The Polis team is honored to share this Department of Justice press release announcing a grant award of nearly $1M to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office to integrate our TrustStat AI body-worn camera (BWC) analysis system into their agency-wide training programs. The implementation of TrustStat at SCSO will help establish new national best practices for the use of AI to analyze BWC video in support of data-driven training that optimizes officer performance, public safety, and police-community trust. BWC video is the world's largest source of data on police-community interactions. TrustStat AI empowers police agencies and communities with tools to analyze this data and apply the results in ways that directly impact street-level performance. Polis is delighted to announce that Brittni (Dixon) Johnson is joining our team as Director of Business Development and Board Advisor. Brittni will lead Polis’ strategic initiatives for scaling, revenue growth, partnerships, and branding. She has expertise in transitioning new technologies to vertical markets, and currently supports Polis’ expansion into the retail security and other sectors. Brittni previously served as a business development executive at General Electric, where she created partnerships and technology licensing agreements to drive revenue growth. She also worked as Head of Partnerships for GE Ventures, where she directed contracting, due diligence, and technology transfers for wide-ranging commercial transactions. As a Dallas-based company serving the law enforcement profession, Polis joins in solidarity with the Dallas Police Department and entire City of Dallas to honor the memory of Officer Darron Burks, who was brutally assassinated on August 29th while sitting in his patrol car outside a neighborhood community center. For folks outside the Dallas area who haven't heard of him, prior to starting his police career in 2023, Ofc. Burks served for 18 years as a math teacher at an inner city charter high school devoted to giving struggling kids a chance to earn their diplomas and prepare for economic independence. Ofc. Burks continued his life of public service by joining Dallas PD, where he patrolled the same neighborhoods in which many of his students grew up. Ofc. Burks' ultimate sacrifice and dedication to selflessly serving others exemplifies everything that is noble about policing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ofc. Burks' family and friends, and with the entire Dallas PD.
