Coprescribing or offering of #naloxone alongside an opioid prescription is associated with decreased opioid overdose fatalities. But children and families seem to have been largely ignored in coprescribing policies. In a new JAMA Pediatrics Viewpoint, Dr. Barbara Chaiyachati and colleagues outline 2 areas in which the needs of children and families warrant particular consideration. ?? 关于我们
Our mission is to achieve optimal child health and well-being by informing program and policy changes through interdisciplinary research. Our work focuses on addressing the unique health needs of children of all ages, from infants to young adults. We work on a wide array of projects that fall into five portfolios: ? Population Health Sciences ? Family and Community Health ? Health Equity ? Adolescent Health & Well-Being ? Behavioral Health Visit our website (https://policylab.chop.edu/) for more information on our specific project topics. Founded in 2008, we research, develop and implement evidence-based solutions that are responsive to community needs and relevant to child health policy priorities. We collaborate with practitioners, families and policymakers throughout the research process because we know we cannot achieve improved child health outcomes by ourselves. And since research articles on their own are unlikely to produce change, we have a dedicated team of communications and policy professionals who work with our researchers to translate their work for a broad array of program and policy audiences. This fall, the Surgeon General released a report on American parents' mental health and well-being, and IT IS NOT GOOD. For #NationalRuralHealthDay, I write about how many of the contributors — like parental social isolation, financial strain and economic instability, and lack of access to mental and behavioral supports — are felt in unique ways by families living in rural PA. Caregivers everywhere need a #caregivingagenda that includes: -Paid family and medical leave -Investments in affordable and high-quality child care supports -Increased direct economic supports alongside investments in social programs -Expanded access to mental and behavioral supports for caregivers -Investments in vibrant public spaces and social infrastructure
“The needs of caregivers in rural areas are acute and it’s time for a reinvestment in our social care infrastructure.” Jennifer Whittaker, PhD, marking this year’s #NationalRuralHealthDay, outlines what a caregiving agenda could mean for rural Pennsylvania in a new blog post and details policy actions that could positively impact rural families and communities.?#PowerOfRural https://lnkd.in/e7uytGbN

Organization, time management, and planning skills are strongly connected to a child’s academic progress. But some students struggle to develop these skills, even when they get support from teachers. New research shows that educators—who have been coached to use an intervention program—can deliver trainings to elementary school students that improve their organization, time management skills and homework performance. These results highlight an intervention that schools can deliver to support students’ academic performance and their future success. Check the comments for this new article in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology.
