This year the stock market has been swayed by many non-fundamental factors - the outlook for interest rates and inflation, Artificial intelligence, wars and now the US election in November. But is it worth considering the political environment when you are investing, particularly in a developed market? According to our Partner Polen Capital, it pays to keep a cool head during these times. "Political sentiments often cloud judgment leading to suboptimal decisions, says Rayna Lesser Hannaway, CFA from Polen Capital. "I believe it’s essential to remain long-term focused and avoid making investment decisions based on predictions about which party will win, or attempting to time the market around political events. "By focusing on company fundamentals instead of political impacts, we believe we can make more informed decisions, ultimately leading to better long-term financial outcomes." What makes Polen’s approach to client outcomes unique? CEO Stan C. This summer our London interns ran a campaign to collect donations and raise awareness for the London office’s charity partner of the year, Hestia Charity. Hestia supports over 19,000 adults and children who have endured domestic abuse, modern slavery, or mental health crises. The focus of our intern charity project was to put together welcome bags for one of Hestia’s mental health crisis refuges, often with nothing but a hospital gown on their back. Our London interns packed 30 welcome bags of clothes, toiletries, games and non-perishable food, as well as over 10 huge bags of clothing donations for delivering them to the local refuge. https://bit.ly/46rNUqm
