Want to help propel PTSD research? We're currently recruiting DC & Chicago-based volunteers to participate in our study using genomics to further the understanding of the biology of PTSD.?This work will advance the development of our blood-based screening tool, PTS-ID? and provide tools for the advancement of new therapeutics. Participants play an essential role in helping to deepen understanding, reduce stigma, and develop more effective therapies for PTSD. People with or without PTSD ages 18-65 (non-pregnant) are invited to participate. The process is simple: Participants visit Stella locations in Washington, DC, or Chicago for one onsite blood draw and complete an online clinical interview (<2 hours). All study volunteers receive a $50 gift card as thanks for participation in this pioneering research. Participation is confidential: No personally identifying information will be shared with researchers. Not in DC or Chicago? Our Roots Remain. In 2017, inspired by their work at the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center & the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Affairs, a veteran and a scientist coalesced their visions around the urgent need for 21st-century innovation in mental healthcare. https://lnkd.in/ew8FvBgH. Drawing upon decades of experience in biomedical technology, public health, & molecular biology, they founded a company to take aim at the mental health crisis that was resulting in 22 veteran suicides each day. Partnering with the Illumina Accelerator and scientists from Mount Sinai and the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, they developed the first-to-market biomarker screening tool for PTSD. As a Veteran-owned business, we honor our founding mission of improving the lives of US military service members and veterans living with PTSD. However, in 2020, the Covid pandemic and subsequent years of mental health repercussions faced by so many concretely elucidated the urgency for advances in diagnostics and treatment across a range of mental health and neuropsychiatric conditions. We are pleased to announce that we have welcomed a globally renowned thought leader to the Polaris team: Dr. Pardis Sabeti has joined the Polaris Genomics Board of Directors. An early advisor and consummate advocate for our mission, Dr. Pardis’ expertise and steady leadership will be invaluable to our company’s evolution. A computational biologist, medical geneticist, and evolutionary geneticist, Dr. Sabeti is a core institute member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. In 2014, Sabeti was named a TIME magazine “Person of the Year” as one of the Ebola fighters and in 2015 as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People, and in 2022 she received a TIME Impact award. She is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. Her recognition and awards also include World Economic Forum (WEF) Young Global Leader, National Geographic Emerging Explorer, the 2012 Smithsonian American Ingenuity Award for Natural Science, and the NIH Innovator Award. She has served on the MIT Board of Trustees and the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Women in Science, Medicine, and Engineering.
