I went to Classroom Library Company's new offices in Chesterfield early on a cold and rainy morning. It was one of those mornings where the chill creeps into your bones and there isn't enough coffee or buttered toast to warm you up. I stepped out of my car and into the bite of midwestern wind and bitter raindrops. I scampered into the vestibule to call for my escort, and upon stepping inside, the chill immediately evaporated. The design of this space beckons you to come in and stay awhile. The building is mostly a warehouse, but the moment you step into the office area, you can feel the hospitality. I think this project is an amazing example of how lighting can affect your mood and focus. The floors are hard and the ceilings high, but the space is designed in a way that makes it feel cozy. I am always in awe of the talent of our designers at P?O?E and I thought it was time I wrote an authentic first-person post about how, as a non-designer, I experience the work that we do.
