“There’s no real evidence that a pizza made at home is better than a frozen store-bought one with the same ingredients.” Faye Flam I know you meant well, but this kind of rhetoric needs to stop, if we want to help people to eat better and live healthier lives. Bloomberg I don’t know what kind of pizza you guys make at home, but I make mine by hand out of real food with great quality ingredients made by people I trust. I can factually prove that my Pizza Margherita is MUCH healthier than any frozen processed pizza since the nutrient density of all the individual ingredients is simply much higher. It does cost a little bit more than a processed frozen pizza, but it’s still cheaper than a “fast casual” restaurant. We need to help people understand that “Flour” isn’t Flour, “Cheese” isn’t Cheese, and “Sauce” isn’t Sauce. Heirloom wheats milled in small batches have higher nutrient density than Silos of bleached flour. Quality matters. If we de-commoditize our ingredients and actually try to help people learn instead of just complaining about how “complicated” it is, we can effect positive change, quickly.
