The Plymouth State Accounting Program is proud to announce that it has recently earned endorsement by the IMA | Institute of Management Accountants, one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession. IMA | Institute of Management Accountants Endorsement of Higher Education initiative recognizes programs that meet high educational standards, enabling students to pursue and earn the CMA? (Certified Management Accountant) credential. This is a testament to the quality of our curriculum that will benefit both the future careers of our students and the organizations where they will work. As we close the fall semester, we would like to take a moment to thank all the individuals who took the time to support our Plymouth State Accounting Program this semester. So many of you shared your valuable time and experiences with our students, making a lasting impression on them and opening their eyes further to the endless opportunities that a career in accounting can offer. Whether you visited classes as a guest speaker, spoke at our Student Accounting Society meetings, represented your firm at our Business Career Fair, joined our new advisory board, or opened your doors to our students through a new or continued internship experience, we cannot thank you enough. The Plymouth State University PSU Accounting Program recently welcomed Eric J Stinson, Managing Partner of Stinson Associates in Laconia and Portsmouth, NH to campus. Eric spoke to students in both our foundational and upper-level accounting courses about careers in accounting and specifically how tax accountants play a pivotal advisory role in their clients’ lives. The Plymouth State University PSU Accounting Program is thrilled to finally be back supporting the Plymouth area VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE - VITA - FOUNDATION INC in conjunction with the UnitedWayEUP and the WHOLE VILLAGE FAMILY RESOURCE Center. Accounting majors Amy Ramsell, Cole Hoornbeek, Austin Fisher, and Ethan Roys recently met with VITA Site Coordinator, Guy Ford to review training requirements and finalize scheduling. Last week, the Plymouth State University PSU Accounting Program was fortunate to have alums, Kendra Bell and Michelle McVetty, CPA return to campus to share their experiences and advice with students in our upper-level accounting courses. Both Kendra and Michelle are partners with Cohos Advisors in Lancaster, New Hampshire, and they shared how the firm’s business model has evolved to better serve the needs of both their employees and clients. Last week, Plymouth State University PSU Accounting Program students in our upper-level accounting courses were fortunate to have Mike Ceglie from Becker Professional Education visit campus to discuss the steps involved in becoming a CPA, the CPA evolution, and how Becker's study tools and materials can support students throughout their testing journey. Students posed some great questions and enjoyed a demonstration of the learning platform. #CPAEvolution #AccountingMajors

Last week, the Plymouth State University PSU Accounting Program was fortunate to host its new professional advisory board. Board members represented many of the various career paths in accounting including public, private, governmental, healthcare, and small business. We are incredibly grateful to our new board for traveling to campus and sharing their time and important perspectives. We had an impactful and productive meeting filled with insightful discussions around curriculum, technology, and the requisite skills and knowledge for our graduates. Students from our Plymouth State University (PSU Accounting Program) recently made the trek to the Financial Accounting Standards Board in Norwalk, CT to learn more about the standard-setting process, the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), taxonomies and XBRL, and the Postgraduate Technical Assistant Program.
