Play Like a Girl!? is a national 501(c)3 charitable organization founded in 2004. Our mission is to ensure that every girl reaches her full potential by providing girls ages 9-13 an opportunity—and in many cases, their only chance—to participate in sport and physical activity. We endeavor to harness the natural properties of sport to propel young women into competitive, male-dominated careers—especially those at the intersection of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and sports. To accomplish this, we offer programs and resources designed to transform girls’ motivation into an “I am unstoppable” attitude. It is our goal to help girls everywhere find the courage to do things beyond the field of play that they never thought possible. We believe that girls given the opportunity to play on a team become women who have the confidence to stand on their own.

Yesterday, girls from our partner school B.E. Academy for Girls got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at exciting tech careers at Amazon corporate, experiencing firsthand what it’s like to innovate and lead in STEM. From hands-on learning to inspiring conversations with women engineers, this shadowing day opened doors to new possibilities and future careers. Huge thanks to our incredible partners, Amazon Women in Engineering (AWE) Nashville, for making this experience unforgettable! Today, B.E. Academy for Girls had an opportunity to visit Amazon headquarters. Each #BEgirl was paired with a mentor and spent the day job shadowing with successful women in engineering. They learned about everything from industrial design, supply chain, product management and compliance to recruitment, fulfillment, and the various Amazon affinity groups. They learned how important it is to let their voice be heard and pursue their goals. I am so proud of these young ladies! Watching them grow over this school year has brought me so much joy! On March 6, we proudly hosted our Women’s History Month event, celebrating the incredible work of the non-profit organization Play Like a Girl!? and its inspiring leader, Kimberly S. Our Women’s Initiative (WIN) leaders, Kathryn Walker and Jennifer Noonan, welcomed guests including BBS attorneys, alums, clients and Play Like a Girl board members for an evening of celebration. ?
