    Saturday morning was something special. A huge thank you to Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll for joining us at Collins Middle School Salem Public Schools to witness The Play Ball Foundation in action. Seeing middle schoolers engaged, competing, and building confidence through The Play Ball Foundation middle school leagues is exactly why we do this work. Sports aren’t just games—they’re opportunity, teamwork, discipline, and joy. When leaders like Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll, Mayor Dominick Pangallo, Superintendent Stephen Zrike, and Play Ball Salem Coordinator & CMS Director of Athletics and Physical Education, Evelyn Oquendo, take the time to show up, listen, and support our mission, it reinforces the importance of ensuring every kid has access to play. Partnerships and community support truly make a difference. Thank you, Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll, for your leadership and commitment to kids across the Commonwealth. And to Stephen Zrike and Evelyn Oquendo—we are deeply grateful for your dedication, partnership, and collaboration.     As we welcome 2025, I’m reflecting on the incredible impact we made together at The Play Ball Foundation in 2024. Thanks to our dedicated community of board members, donors and school district partners, we funded opportunities for 5,000 middle schoolers to participate in 10 sports across 7 school districts—providing access and opportunity to kids who would otherwise not have the chance to play. For these students, sports are more than just games. They’re a platform to build confidence, foster resilience, and find a sense of belonging. It’s inspiring to see how teamwork on the field translates into life-changing skills off the field. Looking ahead, I’m excited for what 2025 holds: ?? Expanding our reach to additional Gateway Cities throughout Massachusetts. ?? Strengthening our programs to meet the needs of even more middle school students. ?? Growing sustainable funding through multi-year gifts and partnerships to ensure long-term success. Thank you for sharing in our mission to create brighter futures for middle schoolers through sports.   • A Record-Breaking Year: 5,000 Middle Schoolers and Growing!? ? As 2024 comes to a close, we’re celebrating a monumental achievement: 5,000 middle school students across seven school districts now have access to sports through The Play Ball Foundation! This year, we expanded our reach to include Boston, Lawrence, Holyoke, New Bedford, Lynn, Salem, and Methuen, providing opportunities to play soccer, cheer, wrestling, track and field, basketball, baseball, cross-country, flag football and volleyball.?This milestone would not have been possible without you. Your support — whether as a funder, a partner, or a coach — has changed the game for thousands of kids across Massachusetts. Together, we’re addressing inequitable access to sports, ensuring that every student, no matter their circumstances, can experience the joy, teamwork, and growth that come with playing. ? Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to continue expanding to even more students and school districts. Each day, I am inspired by the resilience and potential of the middle schoolers we serve, as well as the unwavering support of our community of donors and school district partners. This year, we reached an extraordinary milestone:?serving 5,000 middle school students annually across the seven school districts we proudly support—Boston, Lawrence, Holyoke, New Bedford, Lynn, Salem, and Methuen. This accomplishment represents so much more than a number; it embodies our mission to create access and opportunity for middle schoolers to experience the transformative power of sports. ?     As we wrap up an incredible fall season, I am filled with gratitude for our partner school districts and the dedicated coaches who bring The Play Ball Foundation mission to life each day. This season, I had the privilege of spending time across our partner districts, watching middle schoolers compete, grow, and show up with resilience, strength, and an undeniable love for the game. It has been inspiring to see how, through the power of sport, these young athletes continue to develop confidence, teamwork, and a sense of community. Witnessing these moments – teachers passionately coaching, students wholeheartedly embracing competition, and the pure joy that sports bring – reaffirms the profound impact that The Play Ball Foundation has on each of these kids’ lives. Now more than ever, our mission to bring access and opportunity to middle schoolers feels essential and incredibly impactful.     On Saturday, we celebrated an incredible milestone—serving 5,000 middle schoolers across Massachusetts! This celebration was about much more than just a number; it was a tribute to the students, coaches, communities, and schools in each district we partner with. Their support has allowed us to grow and thrive. The middle schoolers of Boston, Lawrence, Holyoke, New Bedford, Lynn, Salem, and Methuen are the reason we do this work. We are dedicated to ensuring these students have the opportunity to play, grow, and develop through sports. Our partnerships have been essential to our success, and Saturday’s celebration was just as much about them as it was about us. We were reminded that sports are more than just competition—they bring people together, teach life skills, and create lasting memories. We celebrated all we’ve accomplished together and look forward to continuing this journey as we aim to serve the next 5,000 middle schoolers! A special thank you to Manny Delcarmen, Kayla Burton, Dave Wedge, New Balance, Salvatore Lupoli, Sal's Pizza and Tuscan Brands for making the day such a success!

  • We are thrilled to share the incredible success of the Play Ball Shootout Golf Tournament held two weeks ago at the beautiful Black Rock Country Club. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our amazing community, we raised an impressive $326,125 in support of the The Play Ball Foundation’s mission! This milestone wouldn't have been possible without the participation, donations, and unwavering support of everyone involved. A special thank you to Black Rock Country Club for hosting us and providing a stunning backdrop for a day filled with great shots, good company, and a shared commitment to empowering our middle schoolers through sports.
