If you haven’t been to a Play Rugby event in the past, we always promise a FUN and inspirational experience. You can expect lots of games and activations, including our famous Party Hole, with a live DJ! For the more serious golfer, this challenging par 71 course boasts an amazing playing experience and will host on-course contests for trophies, prizes, and bragging rights! ? We're thrilled to be raising money specifically for our?Girls High School program?this year (especially given that the USA Women's Olympic Rugby 7's team recently took home the Bronze medal!!! ??), as we look to inspire more young women to pick up a rugby ball and use the sport to fuel their future hopes and dreams. ? Play Rugby uses the unique power of rugby to inspire and empower youth, primarily from underserved communities, to Go Forward and realize their true potential. We support over 1,100 student-athletes in NYC each year, primarily through our flag rugby afterschool programs and tournaments at schools and CBO's, as well as our year-round Academy program, which features tackle rugby and wraparound support in a community-based setting. Through our unique values-based curriculum, these young people build and develop the social and emotional skills needed to be successful on the field, in the classroom, at home and in their communities.

The Power of Rugby! I couldn't be more proud of what the collaboration between Captain's Knock & Play Rugby USA has achieved. Play Rugby has been a charitable partner of the Captain’s Knock since the first Rugby Legends Dinner NYC in 2008. ? Pictured is Susan Adegoke, who graduated from the Play Rugby program in 2018 and was celebrated at the 2023 Rugby Legends Dinner. ? Su is originally from Brooklyn, NY. She joined the Play Rugby program when she was just 13 years old and took advantage of every opportunity presented to her, both on and off the field. She received a scholarship to play rugby at Life University, where she won a 7s National Championship in 2023 (with MVP honors!) and earned the title of D1 Elite 15s Collegiate All-American every year she was in school. ? Today, Su is competing on the world stage, making her USA 7s debut in 2024 from Dubai. You can see her this weekend representing USA Rugby at the HSBC 7’s in Vancouver. ? Su credits Play Rugby with providing the opportunities she needed to pursue her dreams. Her coaches believed in her and supported her, while the game taught her both grit and resilience. Su is not only an amazing rugby player, but she double majored in Computer Science and Business Administration, and we’re sure that success will find here wherever she goes in her future! ? Play Rugby currently supports over 1,100 young people like Su each year, providing the support they need to achieve their own dreams. For nearly a decade, 100% of Play Rugby seniors have graduated high school on-time and enrolled in college or trade school, defying the statistics prevalent in under resourced communities throughout NYC. ? We’re thrilled to continue supporting the Power of Rugby through this collaboration. 100% of money raised on the night of the event goes directly to Play Rugby USA. ? We are seeking a full-time Head Coach for our HS Boys Team! This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced coach with ties to the communities we serve in NYC (specifically the Bronx and Harlem) to support young people develop the skills needed for success on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Recruit student-athletes from the community who are most likely to benefit from Play Rugby's unique, values-based, on and off-field curriculum ?? Act as a year-round source of support for the student-athletes on your team, utilizing positive youth development practices ?? Attend all on and off-field sessions for your team, including games, practices, college prep workshops, field trips, etc. managing logistics and ensuring safety ?? Collect and report program data daily, weekly, and seasonally This is a full-time, year-round position and requires both in-office hours in Manhattan as well as evening and weekend on-field work, with travel throughout NYC for practices/off-field workshops and throughout the tri-state area for games/field trips. Tuesday's Casino Night for a Cause ?? boasted a sold-out crowd to celebrate our many achievements in 2024 and raise critical funds for 2025! Just thinking about all the fun we had at our #SportForGoodNYC Day of Sport last month... ?? In October, at DREAM Charter School, we brought together partners and young people from Play Rugby USA, Grow Our Game, Harlem Junior Tennis & Education Program, Neighborhood United, and Global Kids for a positive sport sampling experience. Laureus USA's own NYC Program Officer Robert Saltares also spoke to the unique challenges that young people face in New York City and how we can combat those challenges, together. Watch the recap ??
