Today, Play Equity Fund convened the Play Equity Coalition Los Angeles. This collaboration includes nearly 50 sport-based youth development organizations and providers that have chosen to work together to impact public policy and advance systems change to expand access to youth sports and play for kids in their communities. A special thank you to Deputy Mayor of International Affairs Erin Bromaghim, who stopped by to discuss LA's plans for upcoming major sports events and how grassroots orgs can play a role. Introducing The Alliance Sports Pathway Program! The Alliance has teamed up with the Los Angeles Community College District, LeadersUp and the 12 professional sports teams of Los Angeles to launch The Alliance Sports Pathways Program for LACCD students. This work-based learning initiative provides students a glimpse of the career paths in the sports industry and equips them with the necessary skills to kickstart their career in sports. The LA84 Foundation and Play Equity Fund conducted the first-ever statewide survey documenting the play equity crisis affecting our youth. The findings are alarming and puts our work into sharp focus: We must close the play equity gap by supporting our students and parents with the resources needed to ensure all of our kids can experience the benefits of play.
