We recently had the opportunity to spend a day at Rhinegeist Brewery, a beloved gem in Cincinnati, Ohio, known for its exceptional craft beer. In this unique project, we captured the spirit of the brewery by turning everyday sounds — like the clinking of pints, the hum of brewing machinery, and the tapping of kegs — into music. The result is a fusion of experimental sound and melodies fitting the Rhinegeist brand, demonstrating the creativity that emerges when different industries collaborate. Since opening in 2013, Rhinegeist has been a driving force in uniting communities through craft beer. This project serves as a small tribute to the people who bring this incredible product to life and the vibrant spirit that runs through the entire brewing process. We spent a day at the historic Doscher’s Candies factory in Cincinnati, Ohio, where candy has been made by hand since 1871. Using the sounds of their candy-making process - the rhythm of the button machine, the kneading and rolling of candy canes - we created a unique version of Jingle Bells. For over 150 years, Doscher’s has followed the same recipe and techniques, using real peppermint oil and small-batch copper kettles to create their signature chewy, airy candy canes. Claus Doscher, who started it all, also developed the French Chew, a nougat-like candy that remains a favorite. This project turned the sounds of the factory into music, blending tradition and creativity in a new way. When Sheldon Corsi of Corsi Tree Farm in Hamersville, OH, described his 100+ acres as a place of tranquility, we knew we had to experience it for ourselves. The gentle ripple of wind over the pond, the whispers through the pines, and the soft babble of the brook—it’s a natural escape from the noise of daily life. Inspired by the farm's sounds and its serene beauty, we set out to capture its essence and transform it into music. Every sound had a story to tell: The metallic rakes of the saw blades became a riser. Clanks were tuned into a melody. Saw cuts evolved into a shaker. For the tranquil pad, we combined the hum of the tree baler with the wind. It’s a reminder of the power of sound to tell stories, evoke emotions, and connect audiences with experiences in unexpected ways. The longer you listen, the more you hear—just as your eyes adjust to the night sky, revealing more and more stars. The longer you look, the more you see. In the night sky, we connect stars into constellations to create order from randomness. Similarly, sound can inspire us to shape something meaningful from noise. After all, much of art is about finding order in chaos. Recently, we explored an iconic structure near our office to showcase how "a place" can?be more than just an inspiration - it can become something entirely unexpected. In the first episode of the PLAY IT: series, we transformed the historic Roebling Suspension Bridge into a Musical Instrument! Imagine the possibilities: places, products, vehicles, brands, and structures, each with unique sounds, harnessed and transformed into something iconic.
