Philosophy Across the Ages is our successful free-to-attend program that promotes intergenerational philosophical dialogue. PLATO's Program Director, Debi Talukdar, writes about our first online session where a group of high school students and adults discussed whether artists' ethics should affect our artistic judgements. What a fascinating conversation! If you know anyone who would be interested in participating in a future Philosophy Across the Ages event, subscribe to our monthly newsletter to stay updated. PLATO | Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization recently hosted an online Philosophy Across the Ages event where high school students and older adults discussed an ethical issue together. They explored some timeless questions especially relevant in this age of cancel culture: Should an artist's problematic behavior affect our judgement of their art? How do we balance appreciation with accountability? Is it possible to separate art from the artist? What emerged was a rich and nuanced discussion that I describe below. Read my blog post if you've ever wondered about the same questions.
