???????? ??????????????, ???????????? ???????????? This one is for all the fighters, for all the lobbyists, for all the people working hard for the future of the plastic recycling industry. For those who talk, write, negotiate and explain endlessly. For the representatives and ministries, who sit endlessly on chairs at tables where talk is going on. Talk about ‘how to proceed next?’ About ‘what if’. And about ‘so no longer’.?For everyone who wants things to work out and for those who see the opportunities. Thank you! Thank you for continuing to push for a world in which used plastic returns as a high-quality raw material. So that we need to use fewer fossil raw materials and can really do things differently. ?????? ?????? ????????????! But after all that talking, sitting, deliberating and writing, it is now time for action! Cut through knots, make decisions and roll up our sleeves. This year, let's talk a little less and do a little more. Because we know it can and must be done. We are ready and want to get started. There are great plans from the Circular Plastic Agreement. Take for instance, the obligation to use recyclate and bio-based plastics. A decision that should not only be taken in the Netherlands, but will really make a difference at European level. Or how about a ban on incineration and landfill of recyclable plastics? And introducing a producer responsibility system for all plastic, along with a subsidy on recyclate so that recyclers are compensated at very low ‘virgin’ prices. We are happy to engage in discussions, not to talk more, but to bring the ideas to practice. So roll up your sleeves, get to work! ?????????????? ????????-???????????? ???????????? ?????????????????????? ?? The end of the year draws near. At the time of writing, we are bombarded with “Black Friday” advertisements. Originally just a day, it has now stretched to almost an entire month, during which various products are offered at significant discounts. This adds an extra push to buy, on top of other festive occasions like Sinterklaas (Dutch tradition) and Christmas, when we already purchase many (new) products. Many of these purchases are short-lived items. They are often made of plastic and break soon after use, ending up as waste. Good for plastic recycling, but if we think about it, it’s actually quite absurd. Can’t this be done differently? By consciously choosing products with a long lifespan, preferably made from recycled materials, we can do the planet a great service. Or how about a second-hand find from a charity shop or Vinted? Just think about it. As we wrap up this year, hopefully with some thoughtful gifts in the bag or under the tree, I also look ahead to 2025. Another challenging year awaits us, but we are ready to roll up our sleeves. And will this be the year that the use of recycled plastic becomes mandatory?
