2022 seemed to have flown past us and a new year is here! A BIG thank you to all of our customers, vendors, and employees that have all helped us get things done. 2022 Accomplishments: Fabricated steel plates for multiple warehouses, schools, colleges, community centers, manufacturing facilities (Ford plant addition, Facebook data center, a large pharmaceutical plant) and many others. We've also have processed thousands of steel plates for OEMs including plates for wind turbines, oil rigs, pressure vessels, automotive components, bolted tanks etc. We will continue to add manufacturing capabilities as a company, mastering one at a time, and will embrace the benefits of automation to better serve our customers. All of you purchasing agents out there that buy STEEL have my sympathy... Wow, what a ride we have been on the last few weeks. Right now, is when connections matter more than ever from both a supplier and customer standpoint. We are seeing increases and more increases not to mention availability issues for common sizes/grades combined with longer mill lead times and allocation. Whether or not the price increases will stick throughout the year is anybody's guess. Will there be sustainable demand to support it or is this a short-term panic buy blip? Maybe the answer lies somewhere in between. If any of you OEMs out there or other fabricators need to build some redundancy into your supply chain for processed parts or you have sticker shock and need to "shop around" you know who to call! Winter in SW MO this morning, but Braker Steel is still open for business, making sparks and chips fly! Seems like there is a lot of optimism building for manufacturing this year. I saw that the PMI finally went into expansion which is great! We want to make sure we are geared up for it which was a big reason why we pulled the trigger on a new Mitsubishi Corporation fiber laser from MC Machinery Systems Inc. and FABCOR Machinery last year. Its been running great so far! Make sure to take a look at the 1/2" SS304 laser cut flange. That is factory setting and the cuts look beautiful with a minimal HAZ. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
First things first, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! This holiday season is a great time to spend with family, to reflect on the past year, and look forward to the year ahead of us. We all are human. We have good days and bad days, sunshine and rain, but looking back, the year just seemed to whiz by. Life goes on at a frenetic pace. Time gives perspective to things. Isn't that the beauty of life? We have to make our days count... New Fiber Laser update: Last week, the install tech from MC Machinery Systems Inc. did a great job! By Thursday, we were making sparks, and he did some brief training with us before the weekend. I've been working through some bugs and tying up some loose ends with our post software and a few other things. So far, we are loving this machine. Fiber lasers are incredible technology, they are neat to see at a trade show, but it's a whole different deal to have one sitting on your shop floor. We will focus on 1" and under carbon, and 1/2" and under stainless. High mix, low volume, RUSH jobs will be our niche that we pursue. I will be on a marketing blitz to try to fill out capacity... Christmas came early this year! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, its been a bit since I've posted. Spread the word! Our new Mitsubishi 6KW Fiber laser arrived TODAY. A big thanks to Tim Corley, FABCOR Machinery, MC Machinery Systems Inc., Ozark Crane Services Inc, for making this happen... So what's next? In the next week or so, we will wrap up the electrical work and any other loose ends. The install team will arrive shortly after that. We hope to be making sparks and producing beautiful parts by the end of the year. If you haven't already reached out to us about laser cutting your parts, do! This is a new market for us, but real customer service isn't. We know the pain points of OEMs and structural fabricators when working with typical job shops and service centers... We are here and in business to overcome them. Need a responsive and modern steel supplier that actually hits deadlines and stands behind mistakes? Enough of the sales pitch. To many larger fabrication businesses, it's just another laser. To us, this is huge. Only a few short years ago, I was battling an old and my first burn table I spent nearly my life savings of 20K on. It's been a journey, with a lot of ups and downs, a few detours here or there. But, we have a long way to go. I believe we are at another inflection point and this should open a lot of doors. Very excited about the much-improved cut quality, speed (on thinner materials) and precision, (over plasma) that we will be able to offer our current and future customers. Also, I have cautious optimism that next year looks better for the steel industry than this one.
