It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our former legal assistant, Jennifer Roth. Jennifer was an asset to our team, immensely strong in her faith, and most importantly, a proud mother and grandmother. Services will be held Monday, September 23 at The Venue in St. Amant, Louisiana. https://lnkd.in/gRHaYXmW

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced the U.S. Department of Transportation will grant Plaquemines Port $4,732,022 to improve port safety from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This funding will replace two ferry landing barges for the Belle Chasse-Scarsdale ferry, as well as a maintenance barge. Plaquemines was one of 18 awarded out of 43 eligible projects. The project will improve safety and general state of repair as the Port provides vital east-west ferry service for Plaquemines Parish residents and commuters from St. Bernard and Jefferson Parishes. "This grant program allows us to plan ahead and be proactive in increasing the resiliency of our ferry system," said Jalen Brown, M.B.A., Director of Security and Vessels.

We were pleased to host a Port District helicopter tour this week for a number of local and state dignitaries. They were able to receive a bird's eye view of a number of ongoing and upcoming projects such as the Walker Road bridge, Plaquemines LNG, water treatment plant, PALH ferry and future container terminal site. Thank you to our pilot Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office Captain Mark Sauer and to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office for a safe and successful flight. Port Executives and Commissioners visited Deep South Construction with Infinity Engineering Consultants, LLC to view the progress of the Pointe à la Hache ferry ramp repairs. Work is progressing and on schedule, with movement of the old materials expected in the coming weeks. Repairs will now feature steel versus timber, allowing for a much stronger ramp foundation. Anticipated completion of the repairs is Quarter 1 2025.
