Last week?the?Plant Protein Innovation Center?(PPIC) had the honor of hosting?USDA?leadership,?Sanah Baig?(Deputy Under Secretary for Research, Education, and Economics),?Dr. Deirdra Chester, PhD, RDN (Director, Office of the Chief Scientist) and Rubella Goswami, Ph.D.??(Deputy Director, Institute for Youth, Family and Community?USDA-NIFA) at our facility within the?Department of Food Science and Nutrition. Our very own?Dr. Baraem Pam Ismail Ismail, Director of PPIC, shared her vision of the future of PPIC, the value of collaboration with the USDA, and the current state of the ecosystem PPIC operates at the heart of. Discussing the shared vision of an equitable, supportive, nutritious and profitable food landscape with individuals across government, industry, and our academic institution is exactly what we here at PPIC love to do. ? The PPIC Collaborator/Supporter PBFGA is hosting its 3rd international summit on November 6-8, 2024 Antalya, Turkey. This summit is aimed at highlighting the plant based evolution, increasing momentum and strengthening partnerships for plant based innovations in food product development, culinary/gastronomy, data and digital technologies, ingredients, consumer engagement and carbon neutrality. Day 3 of summit , a symposium on sustainable fats and oils to power the plant based food industry, a collaboration between Yabited Fats and Oils, a leader in the industry, and the Plant Based Foods Global Alliance (PBFGA) is planned.? Foster innovation in plant-based fat and oil alternatives. Discuss and explore innovative fat and oil solutions to enhance plant based food products in terms of taste, texture and performance.?
