Hello friends... we are reposting in the hope that you consider donating to help provide much needed medical care and support for a fellow planning colleague and her child, Milo in this season of giving. Please give what you can!
Hello colleagues and friends. I do not recall ever making a personal post on LinkedIn, and I am doing so now with hope that one of my connections will be someone who can help my 18-year-old daughter or will know someone who can help my daughter. Please read her story about complex medical issues on the GoFundMe I set up.

B a business that does this!?"celebrates difference, prioritizes rest, values people over productivity, builds inclusive and resilient communities, and centers the health of communities, the planet, and everyone who inhabits it, regardless of race, ethnicity, class, gender identity, or sexual orientation!!" Thanks B Lab U.S. & Canada!
In this moment, it is more important than ever that businesses continue to step up to protect liberties for the employees and communities we serve. The rollback of civil rights has far-reaching implications—not just for individuals but for the economy as a whole. Together, we must protect the important progress we have made to create a more equitable economy and preserve our democratic norms. Read the full statement on our website. https://lnkd.in/dHy5rPRX

This week, Siler Climate Consulting, along with our fantastic collaborators at Planning Communities and North Star Planning, are launching a two-year project with the State of Vermont’s Climate Action Office to develop a Municipal Climate Planning Framework and Guide. Our team will work closely with our partners at the State and alongside Vermont municipalities to develop and integrate climate actions into their planning processes that are locally relevant and aligned with State climate goals. I feel so lucky that the SCC team is launching this work in an ecosystem of excellent thinkers including State’s who have led the way on building out support for municipal climate action. Shout out to Washington State Department of Commerce Climate Element, C40 Climate Action Planning Framework, New York State Climate Smart Communities Program, ResilientMass Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program, Resilient Rhody: Municipal Resilience Program, Rural Resilience Framework: Disaster Adaptation Strategies for Building Rural Resilience, and the Michigan Redevelopment Ready Communities Resiliency Toolkit for all the inspiration! Calling local leaders: our flooding survey is still open for a few more weeks! Please help us share it widely across MA! In collaboration with regional planning agencies, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) are conducting a Massachusetts Flood Vulnerability Assessment to identify where and how flooding is occurring in Environmental Justice (EJ) communities. As part of this effort, the project team is administering a survey and hoping to hear from municipal and community leaders from across the state, especially representatives from EJ communities. The survey in open until?Friday, October 18. https://bit.ly/MAfloods Vandana M. Rao Caitlin Spence, PhD, GISP Krishana Abrahim-Petrie Rev. Vernon K. I wish I could time travel back to BLD Southeast last week and do it all over again... BLD Southeast was different than anything I have ever experienced. I left my time in Atlanta with new friends and sustainably superheroes that I will lean on in the future, a renewed sense of purpose, and an understanding of the self-care that must happen to sustain impactful work. A few of my many highlights were: ?? Hosting a clean-up with the Chad ?? Livsey in Vine City. I think that all conferences need cleanups now, there is no better way to truly get to know someone than picking up decades-old trash out of the streets of Atlanta. Thank you to all who spent their morning giving back to the community and removing over 500 lbs of trash Ava Wonn, MBA, EIT Benn Marine Shannon Bone, PMP Grayson Stuart Brandon Pelissero Kaley Cross Warner Alison Knott Paris Williams and more! Chad ?? Livsey you are doing good work, thank you for showing up and showing neighbors that they matter and are deserving of clean streets. ?? AMAZING sessions including Impact Storytelling, Emotional Intelligence workshops, a mini keynote about how a janitorial service company in Kentucky can revolutionize the way we take care of our employees, and young sustainability professionals round table. I was blown away by the depth of these panels and have a list of takeaways to implement personally and professionally at United By Blue. ?? The people are what made this week so special. Every conversation I had left me with a reassurance that the B Corp community is where my people are. I more clearly understand that the only way forward is through implementing the triple bottom line at scale: people, planet, and profit. We must use our current economic system as a force for good in order to leverage the swift change that needs to happen. I am filled with more hope than ever before after meeting so many amazing change-makers. Thank you Nathan A. Stuck, MBA and the entire BLD Southeast planning committee. You all absolutely killed it and deserve some much-needed rest time. Now onto a weekend full of cleanups in the San Juan Islands and Seattle for the International Coastal Cleanup! Happy ICC to those who celebrate : )

Every time I go to post after BLD Southeast, I always struggle to find words that describe this event and our community. Mostly because it's truly one-of-a-kind. Where else do folks enter a room with the mindset of collaboration over competition? Or where the definition of networking is truly getting to know someone, what they do, and how they may be able to support. Where people give you the confidence to be vulnerable, and the encouragement to follow your passions (not sure there's any other event I would have volunteered to be in a sustainable fashion show). I owe immense gratitude to Jessica Yinka Thomas, who introduced me to the B Corp movement seven years ago; to Keith McDade, who connected me with Adrianne Gordon four years ago when I joined the BLDSE planning committee for the first time; and to Mel Hubner, who offered me a role on the B Local NC Triangle board. Although I never had the chance to work for a B Corp, I'm grateful to these folks for giving me the opportunity to be involved in growing this movement in the South. I truly believe it is crucial to demonstrate to businesses that a triple bottom line is not only possible but essential for the future. Thank you to the amazing planning and host committee members! Putting on an event like this is no easy task - especially when you are being super intentional about every decision being made. Nathan A. I won't try to shout out everyone I was able to connect with because I am bound to miss folks, but I look forward to continuing our conversations and creating impact! If you didn't make it but are interested in learning more about B Corps, we are hosting a B Corp 101 on October 3rd with B Local Asheville, Charlotte B Corp Collective, Business Sustainability Collaborative, and B Local NC Triangle for EarthShare NC's NC Climate Week! Link to register in the comments. :) And then you should absolutely hold your calendar for next year when we take BLD Southeast to Florida! Thanks Nathan A. Stuck, MBA! Wow, all of our favorites in one track...people, culture and planet!! ?? Can't wait for Track 2 on Day 2 of BLD Southeast! We are looking forward to learning from incredible sessions about ethical tech use, pioneering work environments, and workforce development and to carbon neutrality insights shared by leaders like Anna Sampson from We Are Neutral! We also can't wait for to see you in our Planning Communities workshop, where we'll engage with B-Corps friends in our "Action to Zero," board game to learn actionable steps toward a more sustainable future. Come ready to play!
We're excited to reveal Track 2 of Day 2 of BLD Southeast on September 12th. This is our Sustainable Business track focused on people, culture, and planet. It will kick off with an incredible panel about the sustainable and ethical use of technology, followed by a panel on leading evolving organizations that will feature CEOs who have implemented 4-day workweeks, results only work environments, and employee ownership models. Our mini-keynote will feature Anna Sampson from We Are Neutral as she debunks all of the myths around carbon credits and offsetting, and why they are important step on your path to zero. After lunch, we have two great workshops planned, including Action to Zero, a board game from Planning Communities, which will help you develop your climate resiliency strategy. We'll close out the day with a workshop on workforce development, with subject matter experts helping you figure out what content to use, how to create it, and how to properly implement your L&D program. If that FOMO is starting to kick in, don't fret. We still have a handful of tickets remaining: https://lnkd.in/e8HHf4gE
