?? Echoing Cultural Heritage Partners, PLLC recent post about continuing to say "cultural heritage" because it's what they value! We were founded to emphasize cultural heritage and history in communities typically excluded from land use, zoning, and preservation processes. There are so many words on this list that we will continue to use, and support and champion related communities! https://lnkd.in/ekDhttrp

关于我们
Helping Communities + Culture Flourish Our purpose is to elevate the voices and culture of those traditionally excluded from urban planning, land use and zoning. We inspire community-led, history-based planning solutions so that equitable outcomes are possible. We know telling the inclusive history of our communities is a critical component of all planning efforts. How can we help your community? We work with you to highlight and promote community history and heritage, elevate community members’ knowledge in land use and urban planning projects, and strategize and plan for your community’s future. We blend practical planning, historic preservation, and land use strategies with a commitment to working with people.

??? Ennis has published a powerful new piece on Jacksonville’s rich but often overlooked Black business history. His latest article for Jacksonville Today explores five significant Black businesses that shaped the city’s economic and cultural landscape. From thriving retail establishments to community hubs, these businesses played a vital role in Jacksonville’s development—yet their stories remain under-told. Understanding this history is essential as we continue to advocate for inclusive, community-led planning solutions that honor the past while shaping a more equitable future. ?? Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eV7uhY6u Let’s keep these stories alive and ensure that Black entrepreneurship remains a celebrated part of our city’s identity. What are some of the businesses you remember that shaped your community? #BlackHistory #BlackHistoryMonth #UrbanPlanning #JacksonvilleHistory #CommunityVoices #EquityInPlanning #CulturalHeritage #HistoricPreservation

?? Community Voices Leading the Way! ?? Recently, Ennis joined residents, key partners, city officials, the Gainesville Housing Authority, and COLLABO Planning + Design in Gainesville, FL for the Lake Terrace Resident Workshop—part of the East University Avenue Choice Neighborhoods planning project. This workshop was a powerful opportunity for residents to continue shaping the vision for their community’s revitalization, ensuring that the neighborhood’s future reflects their needs, priorities, and aspirations. ???? We’re inspired by the dedication of Lake Terrace residents and all the partners working together to create an equitable, community-led transformation! ?? #CommunityLedPlanning #ChoiceNeighborhoods #GainesvilleFL #NeighborhoodRevitalization #UrbanPlanning #ResidentVoices

?? CPC at Colorado’s Saving Places Conference! We had the incredible opportunity to attend Colorado Preservation's Saving Places Conference, where this year’s theme—Rooted in Community, Culture, and Place—centered on the power of intangible heritage in preservation. We acknowledge that Colorado is the traditional homeland of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Ute, and many other Indigenous peoples, whose histories, cultures, and stewardship of the land continue to shape this region. ?? Key highlights from our time in Colorado: ? Ennis delivered a powerful keynote on Black cultural heritage and withintrification strategies, offering insight into how preservation can support equitable community development. He also had the honor of meeting James Hines, one of Colorado’s Black architects whose legacy continues to shape the built environment. ? We were deeply moved by Judge Jackson’s reflections on his family’s history at Lincoln Hills, a historic African American mountain resort that provided a space for joy, leisure, and resilience during segregation. ? Adrienne helped lead NAPC CAMP training for a dynamic group of preservation practitioners from across the state, sharing best practices to strengthen local government preservation efforts across the state. From engaging conversations to meeting inspiring leaders, our time at #SavingPlaces2025 reaffirmed the importance of community-led preservation and ensuring that the full depth of history—including the lived experiences, traditions, and legacies of Black and marginalized communities—is recognized and uplifted. Thank you, Colorado, for the warm welcome and inspiring dialogue! Until next time! ??????? #SavingPlaces2025 #RootedInCommunity #CulturalHeritage #PreservationMatters #EquityInPreservation #BlackHistoryEveryMonth

?? We are happy to once again be working with Lincoln Park Main Street in Fort Pierce, FL. Our latest project is a Historic Resources Survey for the neighborhood. For many years, Lincoln Park's Avenue D was a popular stop on the Florida Chitlin' Circuit. We're looking forward to further assisting the community in its on-going efforts to preserve its history, heritage and sense of place as a part of its revitalization strategies. #historicpreservation #culturalheritage #blackhistory #urbanplanning #floridapreservation #floridahistory

??? Black history is every day. Black history is now. As we recognize #BlackHistoryMonth, we honor the resilience, leadership, and cultural contributions of Black communities—past, present, and future. But for us, this work is not confined to just one month. It’s in every story we amplify, every historic place we help preserve, and every community we engage with throughout the year. From heritage trails to museum exhibits to community-led planning, we are committed to ensuring that Black history is not just remembered but centered in the way we shape our cities and narratives. We celebrate the legacies of strength and resistance found in places like LaVilla, American Beach, Eastside and Durkeeville—not just in February, but all year long. Our mission is clear: We won’t stop. We will continue working alongside communities to elevate the voices, histories, and spaces that have too often been overlooked. Because Black history is not just something to reflect on—it’s something to build upon. #BlackHistoryEveryMonth #CommunityHistory #Preservation #EquityInPlanning #LiftEveryVoice #HistoricPreservation #CulturalHeritage #UrbanPlanning

We recently participated in working and community meetings in New Orleans, engaging with local partners to gather valuable input and feedback, as we approach the final stages of the Choice Cooper Transformation Plan. Transformation Plan and Illuminated Art Initiative Meetings for the B.W. Cooper neighborhood were held at the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) and the Rosenwald Recreational Center. Ennis also had the chance to catch up with Heather Hodges with the Historic New Orleans Collection, formerly director of the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor. #urbanplanning #historicpreservation #culturalheritage #housing #neworleans?

We were honored to attend the kickoff celebration of American Beach's 90th birthday year! ?? The event was a beautiful tribute to the legacy, resilience, and future of this historic African American beach community. One of the most inspiring moments was hearing Peri Frances Betsch's powerful speech reflecting on American Beach's past, present, and future intertwining wisdom from her aunt MaVynee Betsch (aka The Beach Lady) and Octavia Butler. Her words are a must-listen for anyone passionate about preserving history and celebrating community: https://lnkd.in/e7n8TMNF ?? The event was held at Walker's Landing, now part of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. We learned that the site of the venue used to be an oyster operation that employed residents of Franklin Town, a Black community nearby that is the predecessor to American Beach. We encourage everyone to take the time to listen, learn, and reflect on the importance of spaces like American Beach. Here’s to a year of celebration and continued storytelling! ???? #AmericanBeach90 #CommunityLegacy #HistoricPreservation #CulturalHeritage #UrbanPlanning #BlackHistory #FloridaHistory
