Yesterday, the Supreme Court issued its ruling in Idaho v. United States; Moyle v. United States – the case about whether emergency abortion care is included under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA). SCOTUS failed to tell states they cannot ban emergency abortions. The ruling brings temporary relief for Idahoans, but the court should have made clear that patients across the country need access to emergency care. Do you know what your employer would do if you needed life saving or fertility saving abortion care and were in a state where emergency abortion care is illegal? #reproductivehealth #socialimpact #CSR #employeebenefits https://lnkd.in/gG5QPr4y

In conjunction with today’s two year anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood’s Action Fund released a new analysis on the impact of abortion bans and has joined the Abortion Access Now Campaign, collaborating with other health, rights, and justice organizations. This landmark ruling led many states to change their laws; 43% of women of reproductive age, plus trans and nonbinary people, now live in states that ban or limit abortion — that means 28 million women of reproductive age live in states with an abortion ban. Three action items: 1) Check out the facts in the link below and think about the role you can play– as an employee or employer– in this landscape where 70% of women ages 18-44 would be discouraged from taking a job in a state that restricts access to abortion, as would 59% of men in the same age cohort. 2) Join the virtual #DontBanEquality Spring Briefing this Thursday at 1:00pm EST. Register below. 3) Take the Reproductive & Maternal Health Compass (RMH Compass) survey to see how your company stacks up! Last week, Alexis McGill Johnson was keynote speaker at the Social Innovation Summit 2024 in Chicago. She and Heather Foster spoke to a diverse audience of businesses, foundations, investors, non-profits, and change makers about the value of reproductive rights and health care access. She shared how people and employers can take action, for example by engaging with the Reproductive & Maternal Health Compass (RMH Compass). After Alexis' session, our corporate engagement team led a breakout round table on reproductive rights with a dynamic discussion about how we can work across sectors to protect and expand reproductive health care because it is a fundamental human right. #SocialInnovationSummit2024 #SIS24 #reproductiverights #socialimpact #csr

COMPANIES TAKE NOTE: NEW SURVEY SHOWS MAJORITY OF YOUNG PEOPLE WON’T WORK IN STATES WITH ABORTION BANS. More information below on this newest survey, yet another example of what is made clear in?other research: workers want to be employed by organizations who support #reproductive freedom, and that #recruiting reflects that as well. Yesterday,?Generation Lab/CNBC?released a new survey that surveyed 1,033 people between the ages of 18 and 34 on topics related to the job market, the economy, the 2024 presidential election, inflation concerns, and other big issues impacting young Americans. Researchers found that nearly?two-thirds?of respondents would “probably not” or “definitely not” live in a state that banned abortion.?45%?of respondents said that they would “definitely reject” or “probably reject” a job offer located in a state where abortion is illegal. #talent #HR #recruiting #abortion #reproductivehealth https://lnkd.in/g-atcyRJ

It was our great pleasure to welcome a delegation from Belgium, including?State Secretary for Gender Equality, Equal Opportunities and Diversity Marie-Colline Leroy, at one of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York's health centers in the Bronx during her attendance to?the?United Nations?Session of the Commission on the Status of Women this month. After a tour of the facilities, we participated in a robust discussion about sexual and reproductive health and rights centered on patients who confront the greatest barriers to access, as well as on topics around the politicization of health care in both our countries. At CSW68, Sec. Leroy supported PPFA's fight for reproductive freedom wearing a #BansOffOurBodies pin while giving testimony on behalf of the European Union.

Employer support for sexual and reproductive health care and reproductive rights is an important issue for worker recruitment, retention, well-being and DEI initiatives — and it’s good for businesses. Our chief global strategy and #innovation officer, Dawn Laguens brought this business case center stage at this year's SXSW and offered a great tool for companies to better and benchmark their #reproductive and #maternal health benefits. Encourage your company's HR department to take the Reproductive & Maternal Health Compass (RMH Compass) survey to see where it stands on repro and maternal health benefits, and how it can improve: RMHcompass.org Thank you to SHEmedia, The Female Quotient, and SXSW for hosting us. And thank you to fellow speakers Shellie Hayes-McMahon, Erin Gallagher, Kiki Freedman, Roopan Gill MD MPH FRCSC (ObGyn), Hannah Bronfman,?Tania Boler,?Jeanelle Teves, and?Shelley Zalis. https://rmhcompass.org/ #sxsw?#sxsw2024?#sxsw24?#reproductivehealth?#reproductiverights?#abortionishealthcare?#socialimpact
