Last week, I took my daughter to her 5th-grade winter formal. It was a special moment, but it also brought back memories of a conversation I had with my wife about missing her last winter formal—an event we had attended together every year. That memory served as a reminder of everything my family and I have been through, and the incredible support we received along the way.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made this moment possible, especially those in the press who kept my story alive. I don’t want to turn this into another emotional, Facebook-style LinkedIn post, but for those who have known me throughout my career, you know that duty has always been my guiding principle. When I was called to serve, I answered—because I believed in the mission and in the people I stood beside.
However, what followed was nothing short of a miscarriage of justice, a betrayal of the very laws and values that I and many others dedicated ourselves to upholding. What I once thought was an unshakable bond of brotherhood quickly revealed the darker side of power—how greed and corruption can drive people to do unthinkable things to others.
Despite it all, my family and I are moving forward. And as we do, I want to express my deepest gratitude to those who stood by my side—friends, colleagues, and the dedicated individuals in the U.S. government who worked tirelessly to make things right. As part of this closure, I especially want to thank Dina Temple-Raston and Andy Greenberg for ensuring that those involved had the opportunity to set the record straight and correct the injustices that were done to me, my family, and my friends.
This ordeal affected many lives, not just mine. But today, I choose to focus on gratitude—gratitude for those who fought for what was right, who stood with me when it mattered most, and who helped bring my family back together for moments like this.
Thank you.
