This past year, a customer in Italy noted there was an issue of heat loss in an old nut roaster. Using thermal imaging, the CPM team was able to quickly identify the zone where the panels had been damaged and lost their integrity. CPM’s Employee Spotlight on Lisa Geck, Innovations Manager. 1. What is your current role with CPM? I am the Innovations Manager at CPM Wolverine Proctor. I have been with the company for 38 years and I am in charge of the Innovation Center where all of our testing gets done. 2. What does your job entail? Testing is a crucial part for our company. At the Innovation Center, we offer thermal processing testing and evaluations for both food and non-food products. We develop the parameters necessary to design a full commercial dryer. 3. What do you enjoy most about your work? I love how I get to work on so many different products. Every product is different to process, and I get to explore how each are made. 4. What is your favorite CPM principle and why? My favorite CPM principle is Be Innovative. Identifying and solving problems is what I have been doing my whole career. 5. What is the most important skill for someone to have in your field? Thinking outside the box is the most important skill for someone working in the innovation Center. Our team identified the problem and expedited the delivery of the spare fan impellor to get the customer back on track. Going the extra step, our team also manufactured a brand-new part so the customer would have on in spare in event of any more issues.
