Leveraging our PlanetScope data, American Crystal Sugar is informing their advanced sugar beet monitoring work in the northern United States. ?? ?? ??? “Covering sugar beet production in real-time across the Red River Valley of North Dakota and Minnesota is a challenge, and this new ability to monitor harvest progress and crop size is critical to managing our assets and resources,” said Joe Hastings, General Agronomist at American Crystal Sugar. “It also gives us greater confidence in crop yield and harvest progress predictions.” Read more: https://go.planet.com/acs

?? We're thrilled to be joining Planet's new program, Project Centinela! ??? This program will provide access to insightful data from Planet's Earth imaging satellites to the world’s leading biodiversity scientists and conservation advocates, including our teams in the US, Tanzania, and Uganda. According to JGI's VP of Conservation Science Lilian Pintea, quoted in Planet's press release: “Through this partnership, JGI will support implementation of the Uganda National Chimpanzee Conservation Strategy and Tanzania Chimpanzee Conservation Action Plan. [These data and products will enable] our local communities and government partners to better monitor and manage their land use plans and protected areas...” ?? Shared data will not only include high-resolution, high-frequency satellite imagery, but also analytics and Planet's Planetary Variables, which measure the changing conditions of the Earth's surface, including soil water content, crop growth, temperature, forest carbon, and farm boundaries. ?? Our partner, Netherlands Geomatics & Earth Observation B.V. (NEO), is leveraging the?Planet Insights Platform?to enhance compliance with the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) requirements. The Planet Insights Platform has significantly enhanced NEO’s monitoring capabilities. The number of monitored fields has increased by 25% compared to their previous dataset, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has expanded its monitored parcels from 650,000 to 1 million. “Our partnership with Planet has great value for us,” said Henk Janssen, Project Manager and Consultant for Earth Observation and Geomatics at NEO. “By combining our skills with Planet’s capabilities, we can prepare for the future and scale up our competencies.
