Just as we encourage clients to dig into their data to assess where they are and think about where they’re heading, we at Plan A Advisors take a look at our own data periodically to think about where and how to deploy our resources to strengthen the nonprofit sector. In our 2024 recap, we note that over half of our projects are now with returning clients. In challenging times, it is important to keep current political events in perspective and not neglect the important relationships and personal sense of purpose that make up so much of the texture of our lives.?As leaders, we need to navigate relationships with those whose viewpoints differ from our own and to reassert the importance of the organization’s mission.

Robin Hood, the anti-poverty foundation that provides philanthropic support to so many Plan A clients, issued its annual Poverty Tracker Report with news that won’t surprise anyone in Human Services in NYC or the region: the rate continues to rise with one out of four New Yorkers now living in poverty. It’s a time of reckoning for the City and State which need to pass legislation to promote affordable housing, access to childcare, educational equity, workforce development, and income equality, and to fuel the nonprofits that provide direct services, largely through government contracts, even as Federal support for the programs that lift families out of poverty is in jeopardy.
