Earlier this year, we started working on a new project here at PSV that’s focused on client bonding. We spent a couple of months in research mode, conducting more than 100 interviews with potential users, and scoured the market for the kind of solution we were dreaming up. We couldn’t find one. At this point in the process, we would normally launch some version of a tool we had in mind in hopes of getting immediate feedback on the idea — but this time, we did something a bit different. Is Product Hunt still worth the effort? In a recent Lenny's Newsletter post on how to successfully launch on Product Hunt, there was a takeaway that stood out to us: “On average, startups that do well on PH invest 50 to 120 hours preparing for launch.” Yikes. We've launched a handful of products on Product Hunt - and spent somewhere around 4-12 hours on each launch - with varying results, but nothing outstanding. Hearing the investment needed made us balk a bit and dig a little deeper into whether it was the right move for everyone, and we put our thoughts down in our latest post on The Notepad: https://lnkd.in/gTgQi7af Be sure to take a look and let us know what you think!
