Placer Business Alliance Executive Director and Visit Placer Board President Cherri Spriggs joined Visit Placer Executive Director Rob Haswell, Visit Placer Public Relations Manager Tiffany McKenzie, Visit Placer Board Member and Placer Valley Tourism Director of Sales Donna Dotti and Placer County Wine Trail Executive Director Jocelyn Maddox today at Visit Sacramento's State of the Hospitality Industry. The initiatives that Visit Sacramento undertakes, like adding new festivals, attracting conferences, booking concerts and sporting events and more, have a positive impact on Placer County's tourism economy, as well. More often than not, Sacramento hotels sell-out creating an opportunity for visitors to stay in, and experience, Placer County even if the main reason they're here is for an event in Sacramento.

A wonderful evening last night in support of?Greater Sacramento Economic Council?launching its new initiative, "Globalizing Greater Sacramento." This includes work to build and elevate the region's global connectivity, ties and investment including additional direct flights to the East Coast and Europe. In fact, it's estimated that within the next 2-4 years there will be a direct flight to Europe, quite possibly Frankfurt. But, why Germany? As the panel went on to discuss, both?Bosch?and?SMA America are located in Roseville and Rocklin, respectively, with global headquarters in Germany. As Thorsten Scheer, North American President, Bosch Automotive Electronics Division, shared last evening, company leaders and team members are on weekly, and in some instances daily flights, between California and Germany. In January 2024,?Greater Sacramento Economic Council?and the?Sacramento International Airport - Sacramento County Department of Airports?will launch the air service alliance to strategize and partner on securing additional flight connectivity not only to Europe and additional direct flights to the East Coast, but across the Pacific, as well. When asked why the companies on the panel chose the Greater Sacramento region for their American headquarters, leaders cited the following: a highly educated work force, access to a number of higher education facilities, more women working in STEM than anywhere else in the country, a passion for renewable energy innovation, and our agricultural footprint. We look forward to working with our partner,?Greater Sacramento Economic Council, on this exciting initiative!

A big thank you from our Board and team for joining us at our 2023 DC Summit! Over 100 elected, business, government and community leaders from all over Placer County traveled to DC last week to discuss challenges and opportunities as they relate to current and future issues facing our communities. Topics included public safety, municipal service delivery, natural resources, forest management, agriculture investment, K-12 career & technical education readiness, workforce housing, transportation, destination stewardship and more. Our delegation engages with DC-based leaders around these important topics, as well as, spends time identifying collaborative moments to leverage funding from the Federal Government. The Summit was incredibly successful, and we hope everyone returned to Placer County feeling inspired as we look to 2024 and beyond.
