PJM has launched the new NextGen planning tool, designed to be a one-stop shop for stakeholders and PJM planners that will further streamline the generation interconnection process. NextGen provides a comprehensive, efficient interface that allows users to track New Service Requests from application to construction and to manage the portfolios of projects, all in one tool. NextGen, which went live March 4, will also automate many tasks that are now performed manually. The tool will provide enhanced project tracking with dashboards, emails and push notifications in the user interface, meaning all parties involved – generation developers, PJM planners and transmission owners – have the same real-time access to information. Users will be able to see all of their company’s portfolio of projects and any actions or decision points that are coming up. Read more at PJM Inside Lines. https://lnkd.in/eipRH9Uw

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) held its 2025 Reliability Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., today. The purpose of the event was to gather industry leaders to discuss the reliability and security of the electricity grid. PJM VP & Chief Security Officer Steven McElwee participated in the security panel addressing supply chain security, use of the cloud, and other emerging physical and cyber security issues. McElwee acknowledged one of the most important security elements is corporate culture and dedication to security protocols. PJM President & CEO Manu Asthana joined other CEOs in a discussion about risks to the nation’s electricity system. Asthana acknowledged that we need more generation supply and noted that too many plants are retiring too soon. In addition, there is concern about the threat of cyber attacks. PJM consistently prepares for all potential risks to be sure the system remains reliable for the 65 million consumers in 13 states and D.C.
