"This tragedy reveals a harsh truth: Recovery isn’t the same for everyone." In her powerful op-ed for CalMatters, Tunua Thrash-Ntuk, President & CEO of The Center by Lendistry, addresses the Los Angeles wildfires and calls for equitable recovery systems that protect Black and Brown communities like Altadena from displacement and generational loss. This critical piece sheds light on the need to prioritize diverse, local firms in rebuilding contracts and ensure that recovery resources are accessible to all.

Congratulations to our friend and client, Tunua Thrash-Ntuk on being sworn in as Long Beach City Councilmember for the Eighth District! Pivotal Founding Partners Amy Rosenfeld and Jonathan Lonner had the honor of witnessing this occasion. As President & CEO of The Center by Lendistry, Tunua’s passion for community and economic development inspires us. Now, as a City Councilmember, her leadership will continue to transform the community she loves. We’re excited to see the incredible things Tunua will accomplish and we’re proud to cheer her on as she elevates the City of Long Beach and its residents. Here’s to more success, Tunua! That’s a wrap on another successful event with our client, PhRMA! We were proud to partner with Assemblymember Dr. Akilah Weber and the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease to host an educational luncheon in San Diego to discuss the physical and mental needs of Black women as they navigate the postpartum period. Experts from the Neighborhood House Association and the San Diego Community Birth Center highlighted the need for ongoing support and resources for Black women after giving birth, including chronic disease management and mental health support. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this vital conversation!

Another great Pivotal event in the books! We had the pleasure of working with our client,?We Work For Health, on a roundtable discussion with Congressman Scott Peters, patient advocates, and business and labor leaders about the importance of the?#biopharma?industry and its impact on patients. Thank you to another client,?Biocom California, for hosting the event, and to our community health partners?-?Alzheimer's San Diego,?Liver Coalition of San Diego, and?International Bipolar Foundation?- for bringing patient voices to the conversation.
Last week, we hosted an engaging roundtable with California Rep. Scott Peters, Biocom California, Alzheimer's San Diego, Liver Coalition of San Diego, International Bipolar Foundation, and more. The discussion covered the economic importance of California's #biopharma industry and the future of patients' healthcare. We recognized Rep. Peters with the Healthcare Leadership Innovation Award for his support on strong #lifesciences policies, including NIH funding, U.S. patent protections, and science-based regulations. Pivotal was proud to support the Art of Resilience, LISC LA's exclusive power lunch and networking event. The room was filled with inspiring entrepreneurs and community leaders dedicated to fostering economic development and opportunity in Los Angeles County. The event marked the launch of the third round of funding for LISC LA's Asset Building for Communities of Color (ABC) program. Access to capital and technical assistance is essential for small businesses to grow, create jobs, and generate wealth in their communities. With support from Wells Fargo's Open for Business Fund, ABC provides small businesses with access to 0% interest capital to purchase key business assets and acquire commercial property. Since ABC was launched in 2022, we've had the honor of sharing stories of program recipients about how these investments have allowed them to reach their goals. From a bakery and grocery store opening their first brick-and-mortars, a non-profit purchasing their first commercial property, to a fashion brand expanding to a permanent space, and small business owners upgrading equipment, hiring staff, and planning for expansion, the program's impact is profound. Congratulations to LISC LA on a fantastic event and transformative program that is breaking down barriers to traditional financing for small business owners.
