Hearing firsthand experiences from those who’ve walked in their shoes was truly invaluable as these soon-to-be graduates prepare for their next steps. ?? At Pittsburg Unified School District, we celebrate learning beyond the classroom! Last week, Mrs. Juana Nesta hosted her annual Thanksgiving meal at Parkside Elementary, where scholars practiced table manners, engaged in meaningful conversations, and embraced the spirit of gratitude. ??? Thank you to Mrs. Nesta, the supporting staff, and our parent volunteers for making this special event possible. Moments like these reflect the care and dedication our educators bring to every scholar, every day.

A heartfelt thank you to Boilermakers Local 549 for hosting an amazing Family Day event that provided our scholars with invaluable opportunities to explore union careers in the building trades. From welding demonstrations and hands-on activities to shop tours and a fun-filled kids' zone, this event was packed with learning, excitement, and connection! We are grateful for our partnerships that help enhance Pittsburg Unified scholars' access to rewarding careers in the skilled trades. Thank you to the families who joined us, as well as the union representatives who shared their expertise on apprenticeships, pay, health benefits, and retirement plans in the building trades. A special thank you to State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond; previous Superintendent of Public Instruction and Founder and President of the Torlakson Whole Child Institute (TCWI), Tom Torlakson; and newly elected County Supervisor, Shanelle Scales-Preston. We appreciate your engagement with our scholars and families—your presence and support mean so much to our community!
