Public transit is a lifeline for Allegheny County—but without additional state funding, we are facing devastating service reductions and fare increases starting in 2026. Here’s what’s on the line: ?? 35% service reduction ?? Fare increase of 25 cents ?? 40 bus routes + the Silver Line eliminated ?? Major cuts to ACCESS ?? No service after 11 p.m. ?? Garage + park-and-ride closures This isn’t just about transit—it’s about access to jobs, education, healthcare, and opportunity. These cuts would impact our riders, businesses, economy, and the dedicated employees who keep our system running. PRT leadership is actively fighting for a solution to prevent these drastic changes. In the video below, CEO Katharine Eagan Kelleman shares why this funding is critical and what’s at stake for our region. We need your voices in this fight. Over the weekend, some of PRT’s employees and their families dodged rain to walk along with our shamrock-wrapped bus in the annual Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Thanks to everyone who came out to march and who lined the parade route! We’re proud to be a part of this long-standing tradition! #StPatricksDay #parade #pittsburgh #PRT #publictransit

On Transit Employee Appreciation Day, we celebrate PRT’s incredible maintenance workers and operators who ensure our riders get where they need to go every day. Our agency has around 1,100 operators who help more than 2.6 million riders get to work, school, the stores, and anywhere else they need to go around Allegheny County each month. They serve a crucial role in the agency and across the community. We have over 1,000 workers in our maintenance department who make sure every bus, light rail car, and the Mon Incline is inspected and working as it should. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to keep our fleet of nearly 700 buses and 81 railcars on the move through Allegheny County. Please take the time to say THANK YOU to those operating your bus, light rail vehicle, or incline today or those you see working to keep the routes clear and those vehicles moving. ·?????If you’re getting on at your stop in the dark, help your operator see you by using your cell phone as a light.?Just make sure you’re not flashing bright lights directly at the operator. ·?????Take an extra moment to greet the operator when you’re boarding or wish them a pleasant day when you’re exiting. ·?????Help keep the atmosphere positive on the bus or train by showing common courtesy to all your fellow passengers. ·?????Clean up after yourself before you exit and treat the vehicle with respect. ·?????Give them a note or say thank you in your own way! Please join us in saying THANK YOU to all our operators and maintenance workers for their hard work and dedication! #TransitEmployeeAppreciationDay #ThankYou #YouKeepUsMoving #PRT #publictransit

Keeping our employees as healthy as possible is important to us here at PRT. Our Wellness Committee is made up of a representative from each of our facilities, reps from UPMC Health Plan and Highmark Inc., and our Benefits Manager Khalid Harper. They’re responsible for planning and coordinating several wellness fairs, flu shot clinics, and distributing information about incentives to employees throughout our facilities. The healthier our employees are the better rates we can get on our health insurance premiums. #PRT, #publictransit #stayinghealthy #wellness #yourhealthmatters

For us, rider etiquette is a big dill! Based on rider feedback of some of the most common frustrations experienced during a trip on public transit, PRT has taken a fresh, flavorful approach to improving rider etiquette with a brand-new campaign rolling out this month. “We’ve all had that ride—the one with the booming music, the seat-hogging commuter, or the unexpected cloud of vape smoke,” said PRT CEO Katharine Eagan Kelleman. “These might not be the biggest problems in the world, but they can definitely sour a trip. This campaign is a fun, lighthearted way to remind everyone that a little courtesy goes a long way.” Riders will start seeing colorful reminders during their rides just like the one below, that will encourage simple yet meaningful ways to create a better experience for everyone. We’re getting ready to put 30 new buses on the road! The first of our new 40-foot buses is here! Our maintenance crews are working to get it inspected and prepped to hit the streets of Allegheny County in the coming weeks. It has new PRT branding and colors and is from the same manufacturer as our 60-foot articulated buses, New Flyer. The goal is to have all 30 of the new buses on our routes by mid-summer! #PRT #publictransit #newbuses #addingtothefleet
