On Friday, together with Duquesne Light Company, we hosted a Leadership Summit for over 50 student-athletes from all over the city. Before a networking dinner, those in attendance took in a wealth of knowledge and guidance from a 5-person panel that included Pirates President, Travis Williams; Pirates GM, Ben Cherington; Pirates Alum, Michael McKenry; DLC President & CEO, Kevin Walker, and DLC Chief Diversity Officer, Sam Hartzman. Topics included leadership, both on and off the field, and career advice for these future athletes!

We teamed up with Koppers Inc. to complete the second phase of the Pittsburgh area dugout renovations at the Smock Volunteer Fire Department Fields in Smock, PA. The before and after photos showcase the improvements that have been made. Thanks again to Koppers for their support of local youth baseball and softball!

To help provide Thanksgiving meals to 2,100 families on Pittsburgh's Northside, we supported the Light of Life Rescue Mission's Thanksgiving Basket Outreach. Today, Steve Blass and the Pirate Parrot helped deliver over 1,000 boxes of turkey stuffing that our front office staff donated.

We are proud to announce that Jake Horne, our Assistant Manager, Florida Field Operations, has been selected as the 2024 Florida State League and Single-A Groundskeeper of the Year! The winner of this award is selected by Major League Baseball with nominations made by individuals across the country, including field managers, who provide feedback throughout the season on the quality and condition of the field. Jake's dedication and attention to providing the best possible field at the highest of standards was strongly highlighted, earning her this distinction. We are lucky to have Jake on our team and appreciate her commitment to providing the highest quality playing surface for Florida State League players. Congratulations, Jake!
