WE NEED JUDGES! The Swanson School of Engineering Spring 2025 Design Expo will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 5-8:30pm for the first time at the Petersen Event Center. ? The SSOE Design EXPO is a showcase of semester-long student projects from several of the departments and classes within the School.?As a judge, you will be asked to evaluate 5 projects within your research interests on the project’s ability to resolve a design problem, approach, innovation, presentation/communication, and technical performance/overall impact. An awards ceremony will take place at the end of the evening, recognizing the top performers in each category. MEMS PhD Student Jun Young Hong has been honored with the Graduate Excellence in Materials Science (GEMS) Sapphire Award from the American Ceramic Society!?? Jun Young’s research focuses on magnetic field sensing materials and devices, particularly Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) single crystal fibers, and the integration of NV center nanodiamond-polymer in a fiber-optic platform for quantum sensing applications.
