Reflecting on a Fantastic Experience at 2024 Pistoia Alliance Philadelphia Conference! ? Thank you, Pistoia Alliance, for organizing such a wonderful and engaging conference in Philadelphia (also thanks to Anil Verma and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the collaboration). It was my first time attending, and I thoroughly enjoyed the thought-provoking sessions and dynamic discussions with industry leaders. One of the highlights for me was the session on "Application of Data in AI" This fully packed session delved deep into the intersection of AI, data, and innovation. Here are some standout contributions: ? ?? Abhishek Pandey (AbbVie) shared insights on the complexities of using AI for drug discovery and development, shedding light on both challenges and opportunities. ??? Prateek Kacker (Novartis) discussed the infrastructure required to support world-class AI/ML initiatives, including the critical role of AI & MLOps for production systems. ?? I had the pleasure of speaking about the importance of data modeling (particularly for multi-modal datasets like clinical, omics, and imaging data), data analytics via AI Agents and using (Biology-based) Generative AI for driving insights in drug development using Tag.bio ?? Loganathan Kumarasamy, MS, RAC (Zifo) showcased the power of Augmented Intelligence while emphasizing the importance of keeping humans in the loop for AI in GxP environments. ? Just reflecting on the excellent couple of days a the Pistoia Alliance Conference - a super programme that really reflected the major focus areas affecting R&D. The AI Workshop on the application of LLMs was insightful with two excellent use cases - one on transforming patient data into actionable treatment timelines from Joe Lennerz and the second on application of protein language models to drug discovery from Atul Kakrana, PhD. The main conference went on to showcase the many areas that the Alliance is working pre-competitively to drive improvements in data quality through creation and promotion of a portfolio of life science ontologies and semantic resources; collaborating with regulators on controlled substance compliance and submission of invitro pharmacology data; and future technology, including application of Generative AI and a community on?quantum computing. A fundamental reason to attend events such as this is the engagement and networking with other companies, which is at the heart of driving the Alliance's activities forward. Big shout out to Becky Upton, Pistoia Alliance President, who continues to lead the Alliance from strength to strength, and to Zahid Tharia and team on the Conference organisation. Finally, it was wonderful to catch-up with some old Pistoia friends - Tim Hoctor, John Wise, Carmen Nitsche, Chris Waller, Sergio Rotstein, Gregory Klebanov - great to see you all! ?? #PistoiaAlliance
