Rolf Bockbreder is a Piper Meridian pilot and a volunteer air traffic controller in Germany. On the evening of June 23, 2020, he received a call from the German Organ Transplant Foundation about an incoming transport helicopter that would land around midnight. The helicopter would be transporting a new heart to a ten year old boy in Belgium, and a time window of around 4 hours must be observed from the removal to the implantation of the organ so that it remains viable. The helicopter arrived from Belgium as scheduled and the medical team rushed to retrieve the heart from a nearby hospital. Upon their return, their helicopter would not start. Rolf immediately sprung into action, he pulled his Meridian from his hangar while on the phone with air traffic control. ATC was very helpful and due to the emergent situation, built his flight plan for him and arranged all of the relevant permits and clearances for a direct flight to Belgium. By 4:22 a.m. the Piper Meridian took off with the medical team. Rolf's Belgian colleagues cleared the direct approach, and shortly after 5 a.m. the plane with the valuable cargo arrived at the business aviation center at Brussels Airport. Less than three minutes later the team had boarded a waiting transporter and rushed to the transplant recipient. "The transplant center thanked me several times afterwards for this life-saving action, on behalf of everyone involved. The transplant was carried out successfully." #MyPiperStory

Justin Coletti and his girlfriend are the proud owners of two Piper J3 cubs. One of those cub's, a 1941 J3 nicknamed Peep, actually shares a "manufacturing date" with their son, 75 years to the day (Oct 2, 1941/2016). Justin and his girlfriend bought the cubs to start a light sport flight school and help high school students learn to fly safely and cost effectively. They have also traveled all across the county with their cubs, participated in numerous static displays at Airshows, and worked with veterans interested in flying. "Our cubs will remain in our families forever and we’re continuing to grow our J3’s to expand our flight school to teach ski and float flying!" #MyPiperStory

#ThrowbackThursday The Piper Navajo took its first flight in September of 1964 and was launched in 1966. It was originally powered by two 310 hp Lycoming TIO-540-A turbocharged engines. The aircraft was later reimagined into several variations, including the PA-31P, piper's first ever pressurized aircraft, which certified in 1969.
