Not often we end up in magazines, so this came as surprise this morning. It's great to be working alongside exceptional engineers such as Kirsty M. at National Gas, Andy Brealey CEng MIMechE at DNV and Neil Mackay, CEng MIMechE at STATS Group as well as the host of operational engineers in delivering real changes to what and how we can maintain pipeline integrity.
It was a privilege to contribute to the cover article of this month’s World Pipelines magazine. Here details an in-depth review of all the measures we have taken to trial a new in-line isolation tool for use on the National Gas Transmission System. It details how we used the UK Innovation funding mechanism to initiate this project building on research previously carried out by PRCI - Pipeline Research Council International, but applying the technology to our onshore pipelines - a UK first! ? This project has allowed us to add options to our toolbox for Construction projects to broaden our capability. The project hasn’t stopped here either! We’re always looking for ways to improve our processes. Thank you to Andy Fuller CEng at Pipeline Integrity Engineers (PIE) Ltd. and Andy Brealey CEng MIMechE at DNV for all the background work that allowed us to undertake a thorough integrity assessment. This fantastic project has also been shortlisted for an IGEM - Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers and EUA Utility Networks Gas Industry Award too - Project of the Year! ???? Have a read to learn all about it here (Page 51!) ??
