Pipe and Duct Systems, LLC recently began work on the new 79,000 square foot Transportation Education Center for St. Louis Community College at the Forest Park campus. It will include four laboratories (two automotive and two diesel) and two floors of classrooms and offices, plus flexible areas to host community events and external organizations.?Students will learn about automotive technology, diesel technology, and truck driving programs in one place and become the highly skilled employees Missouri needs in critical industries.? The pictures show the HVAC ductwork.?In our Fenton, MO sheet metal fabrication shop, our team fabricated 23,000 pounds of ductwork (which translates to about 2,000 linear feet).?Much of this ductwork was pre-assembled to the optimal length for field installation.?Pre-assembling several pieces of the ductwork together in our shop allows for easier, more efficient installation on site. Pictures from Pipe and Duct Systems, LLC's ongoing project at the America's Center in downtown St. Louis where we are replacing four cooling towers. These show the first step:? removing the old towers.?The new ones are about 6 tons each.?Using a 60-ton crane, the towers get hoisted 55 feet into the air then set 25 feet from the edge of the roof. Cooling towers remove heat from HVAC equipment.?They can save a lot of water and energy compared to other cooling systems, and ensure the longevity and reliability of the HVAC system.?That’s important for a complex as large and varied as the America’s Center, which is about 2.7 million square feet and growing, thanks to a $250 million expansion and renovation project.?With hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, the America’s Center must keep its HVAC systems running smoothly.
