SIPs have a lot of benefits for modern construction, especially for beachfront homes. This video featuring Matt Risinger and Extreme Panel Technologies showcases #SIP construction as a revolutionary method that provides homeowners with lower utility bills, reduced insurance rates, and quicker build times. It's also a project that our team provided structural engineering expertise for. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/g4CxFa9g

Our Principal and Founder, Kip Ping, shared his expertise on structural engineering For AIA Cincinnati earlier today at The Kleingers Group office. He focused on the three pillars of structural engineering, here a just a couple of his main points: Economy The structure is not the place clients want to spend money, so considering the labor and material costs and the bottom line is one of the most important aspects when designing structures. Load Path Although the numbers and calculations matter, they don't if the load path doesn't exist, and generally, a direct load path is the ideal option. When thinking about structure, it's easy to get lost in all the details, but isolating the structure into each component can simplify the design. Compatibility Considering compatibility, or how well the structure performs once it's built, is another critical aspect. This is different from a safety calculation and is a more opinion-driven thought process, considering stiffness is the key. For example, a building structure design in Colorado requires a different thought process around the load design than a build in Ohio because of the amount of snow that happens yearly. If you attended, comment your biggest takeaway below!
