Such a STUNNING project from RWA ARCHITECTS, INC.! Our team loved collaborating as the structural engineer.
The CRANaward NEW CUSTOM HOME: TRADITIONAL winner is Quintessential Lakeside Retreat by RWA ARCHITECTS, INC.. It can’t look new. But it must feel timeless!! Those were the instructions that the owners insisted on for this new five-bedroom family retreat situated on a lakeside site in Northern Indiana. The property had been handed down through three generations of family and they insisted that the house appear to have been a long part of that history. Taking advantage of the gentle hillside terrain to maximize three levels of living space so all get lake views through the trees, guests entering the wide front door are immediately treated to a picture framed view across the great room to the lake. The nature of the casual lakeside vibe is accentuated by the lack of a formal dining room. This encourages family dinners on the west facing porch under an evening sunset reflecting off of the water.
