If you are tired of the #doomscroll that has become the #entertainment and #media news cycle, we got you covered! ___ No one outside Hollywood seems to be paying close attention to what has been happening in the economy of making, distributing, and promoting visual stories as much as Hollywood currently does. Two weeks ago, while at a wedding in New York, a fun couple from San Francisco started a conversation with my husband and me. They referenced enough pop culture and film that I figured they just had to know what’s been going on, so I lamented,?“It's been a tough two years; I'm not sure what to do.” Jetlagged, a glass of wine deep, and I’ll say anything to strangers. Vulnerability makes other people super comfortable, I promise. Their wide eyes showed confusion in response:?" Really? I had no idea! I thought the strikes were over?” The strikes are over, and if you are reading this, you are likely involved in the entertainment/media business, and you know, nothing is like it used to be pre-strike, pre-pandemic, pre-Warner-Discovery merger, pre-whatever-the-fuck-Peacock is.
