Welcome to the seventh annual Black Policy Lab! bit.ly/BlackPolicyLab2024
award-winning strategist and author designing policies, narratives and movements so humans can just be
This post is my birthday "thank you" and an invitation to join us virtually next week from Dec 2-4 for the annual conference that refuses to enter the new year without a vision and a plan. Sometimes we make the wrong assumption that everyone knows who we are. My name is Ifeomasinachi Ike. I am the founder of a team called Pink Cornrows. We are a majority Black-femme led solutions team, weaving intelligence beyond our degrees--reaching all the way back to our native soils. Our team believes that to change the future, you move as a village. We hold an annual gathering, The Black Policy Lab (BPL), open to those who desire to build the future we all deserve. At BPL, everyone is an expert at something, and speakers are there to spark imagination--not dominate the direction we should go. It gives me chills when colleagues, like Turquoise Young, call our space their "favorite conference to attend." And while it takes a lot to produce, this annual offering enables us to truly appreciate how deep the village truly is. Our theme this year is: "The Reset." Because that's what we have to do if we're gonna get through all of this. We are humbled that over 2500 disruptors have attended our labs. And that cost, ability, expression and location are not barriers to being a part of the village. Thanks to supporters like Ford Foundation, we continually expand the visibility of Black thought leaders, especially my fellow disabled disruptors and designers. Below is a sneak peak of who is joining us next week. You may notice some of your faves including Jamil Smith, Dr. Sarah L. Webb, Erin R. Russell J. Ledet, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A. Rasheera Dopson, MPH Camille Proctor and more! But also know that you being there matters, and it's the lasting community that makes BPL successful. There are so many more exciting guests for next week that I can't wait to reveal. Know that you are who we are waiting for. Free to attend, ASL provided, and from Sudan to environmental justice, we got you...but you must register at bit.ly/BlackPolicyLab2024. #BPL2024 #BPLRESET #BlackPolicyMatters #DisruptorsWelcome
