Welcome to the seventh annual Black Policy Lab! bit.ly/BlackPolicyLab2024

award-winning strategist and author designing policies, narratives and movements so humans can just be

This post is my birthday "thank you" and an invitation to join us virtually next week from Dec 2-4 for the annual conference that refuses to enter the new year without a vision and a plan. Sometimes we make the wrong assumption that everyone knows who we are. My name is Ifeomasinachi Ike. I am the founder of a team called Pink Cornrows. We are a majority Black-femme led solutions team, weaving intelligence beyond our degrees--reaching all the way back to our native soils. Our team believes that to change the future, you move as a village. We hold an annual gathering, The Black Policy Lab (BPL), open to those who desire to build the future we all deserve. At BPL, everyone is an expert at something, and speakers are there to spark imagination--not dominate the direction we should go. It gives me chills when colleagues, like Turquoise Young, call our space their "favorite conference to attend." And while it takes a lot to produce, this annual offering enables us to truly appreciate how deep the village truly is. Our theme this year is: "The Reset." Because that's what we have to do if we're gonna get through all of this. We are humbled that over 2500 disruptors have attended our labs. And that cost, ability, expression and location are not barriers to being a part of the village. Thanks to supporters like Ford Foundation, we continually expand the visibility of Black thought leaders, especially my fellow disabled disruptors and designers. Below is a sneak peak of who is joining us next week. You may notice some of your faves including Jamil Smith, Dr. Sarah L. Webb, Erin R. Russell J. Ledet, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A. Rasheera Dopson, MPH Camille Proctor and more! But also know that you being there matters, and it's the lasting community that makes BPL successful. There are so many more exciting guests for next week that I can't wait to reveal. Know that you are who we are waiting for. Free to attend, ASL provided, and from Sudan to environmental justice, we got you...but you must register at bit.ly/BlackPolicyLab2024. #BPL2024 #BPLRESET #BlackPolicyMatters #DisruptorsWelcome

Our team is creating a safe, unrecorded space this Friday for our community of over 3500 policy disruptors and love warriors to decompress, vent, love, ground and connect. No matter what, we still got us. Pop in! bit.ly/bplbreathe ASL provided. #AndBreathe #BlackPolicyMatters #BPL2024 #TheReset

Fighting for all people to be seen and treated as human is not a fad, it’s a calling. And we recognize that there are many fights to be had. We offer this: the more secure our rights are, the better we can fight for others. Second season of Black Innovation Alliance “From Chains to Links” is out with our founder Ifeoma Ike, Esq. as co-host with Kelly Burton, PhD. First guest Bakari Sellers breaks it down what’s at stake! We will fight regardless. The more whole we are today helps how we stand for all people globally ??

CTA: If this resonates, please share. Likes are cool, but knowledge sharing is power ?? ????Season Two of Black Innovation Alliance podcast “From Chains to Links” has dropped and it kicks off with 10 questions for political commentator, Bakari Sellers. I love this question Kelly Burton, PhD posed—and Bakari’s response is one that deserves to be shared because all punditry aside, the fate of the Supreme Court is on the ballot. And as a human who is fighting to be treated as such, this election matters. #podcast #SupremeCourt #elections

One of the campaigns we are proud to design and co-build is Black Innovation Alliance’s “Decade of Black Innovation,” which we affectionately shorthand to “DOBI”. In addition to ensuring Black entrepreneurs are equipped to compete in the emerging digital economy, DOBI celebrates every day Black innovators creating pathways to “thrivehood”.

In the spirit of the BIA's Decade of Black Innovation, we take a moment to celebrate the radical joy and transformative power that stems from reclaiming and reimagining our heritage. Black entrepreneurs are at the forefront of pioneering new frontiers in various fields, including farming, as we reconnect with the land and our roots. This movement is not just about agriculture—it's about empowerment, sustainability, and the creation of vibrant, self-sufficient communities. One inspiring example is showcased in this video by Goodful, where Tanya Fields, the founder and executive director of Black Feminist Project, highlights the incredible work on her Bronx-based farm. Fields innovates by cultivating crops and sowing seeds of economic resilience and cultural pride. #BlackInnovationAlliance #BlackInnovation #RadicalJoy #BlackFarmers #SupportBlackBusiness #Farming #DecadeOfBlackInnovation

Black Policy Lab is BACK!!! Black Policy Lab is a community that unites our expertise, curiosity and joy as we design a greater today and future for Black lives. During the height?of the global movement in response to the daily realities of Black lives, so many events and experiences were created. But even as those events focused on movement and activism, so many on the ground organizers, problem solvers and change agents were overlooked, not invited or could not afford to attend these esteemed events. Black Policy Lab believes there is a movement of every day researchers, builders, dreamers?and doers who hold the genius and the answers to solving the inequities we face today. The more space we create to connect and bridge gaps, the more we all benefit. We are so honored to convene over 2500 disruptors and policymakers every year for a one of a kind experience. Registration is free and open at blackpolicylab.com. We'll be sharing more about our amazing speakers and topics leading up to the conference. See you in the lab! #BlackPolicyLab #HackBlackFutures #ProblemsolversWelcomed
