Yesterday members of our Negotiator Response Team (NRT) partnered with the Clearwater Police Department for a joint training session. The training focused on advanced negotiation tactics and addressing the complexities of working a call alongside a neighboring agency. This hands-on exercise was vital for enhancing teamwork and ensuring the safety of everyone in high-stakes situations. NRT is a call-out team made up sworn members that respond to calls where a person is in crisis - they may be threatening suicide or they are a violent subject that has barricaded themselves with a hostage. They are called to deescalate the situation and bring a peaceful resolution. Often deploying alongside SWAT, these members are known to have incredible active-listening skills, empathy, and determination to help people in crisis.

With its ability to collect 200 times more DNA than a traditional cotton swab, the M-Vac is solving today's cases - and is unlocking the mysteries of cold cases from decades ago. Forensic science specialists at PCSO are using cutting-edge technology to uncover DNA evidence from even the toughest surfaces - like carpets, fabric, or decades-old cold case items. Kids aged 8-13 were more than ready to take on Discovery Day earlier this month! They had a blast trying out the modified P.A.T., swerving through the T.R.A.D.D. course, learning about forensics, watching a thrilling K-9 and flight presentation before heading over to explore speciality vehicles! Yesterday, PCSO took "show and tell" to the next level at the Great American Teach-In! From the roar of our helicopter overhead to hands-on tours of our cruisers and humvees, students all around the county got a first-hand look at what it takes to keep our community safe. Our K-9's were a paw-sitive hit, evident in these photos of K-9 Holmes who was soaking up all the pets from some of our newest fans (the students)! And of course, our deputies fielded some top-notch questions - plus a few delightfully off-topic stories from the kids that kept everyone laughing. Thanks to all the schools who invited us in and to every young learner who helped make the day unforgettable! We're proud to inspire the next generation.

The Great American Teach-In brought us to classrooms across the county! From the Eagle dropping in to K-9 Holmes soaking up all the pets, our members shared a day full of questions, laughter, and inspiration with local students. We think K-9 Holmes probably had the best day - his grin at the end says it all! Thanks to all who welcomed us and made this day unforgettable!
