Last week’s PIN workshop in London was amazing! ?? We had participants from 11 different companies that operate on 6 different continents. Thank you to everyone who participated and made it a special day. ?? Sessions covered a number of critical topics including: - Fraud-as-a-Service - How product loopholes enable collusion scams? - Detecting and preventing promotion abuse - Driver fraud ban evasion techniques We’ve heard some great feedback from attendees. One attendee told us she thought it was her first time ever getting to meet her industry peers. That’s a big reason we love doing these workshops! Our next PIN workshop is slated for Q1 2025 in the US. Are you going to be there?

Last week was very special and a milestone in my carrer. I had the opportunity to meet with Fraud Prevention Leaders of Food Delivery and Ride-hailing industries from all over the World. In a Worshop in London, organized by Incognia, we could discuss the main trends in the industry and the best practices to avoid fraudulent behaviours such as: ban evasion, identity bypass, fraud as a service, deepfakes, app clonners, etc. The event brought together the PIN - Platform Integrity Network, a group of professionals committed to exchange best practices and empower new generations of risk professionals. And I am proud to share that I am a founding member of PIN. Moreover, I had the honor of participating as a panelist in one of the panels that took place during the Marketplace Risk, the largest Marketplace Conference in Europe, alongside Andre F. and Taki Bouyoucef, two incredibly inspiring professionals. On this occasion, we discussed ban evasion and how platforms can protect themselves regarding the identity of their users. Thanks Incognia for the invitation. I am really Happy with all the connections we have made and hope we can continue exchanging experiences and knowledge! • Countdown: 4 days until the PIN workshop in London! At last year's PIN workshop in SF, we asked attendees if they would recommend that industry peers attend a similar workshop. Watch the video below to see what they said. We’ve got great things planned for this next workshop. We can't wait! London, here we come ??

  • How do fraudsters find a vulnerability to exploit? Sometimes they run tests ???????? Here’s an example we found in an online forum. The first screenshot below shows a user in the forum asking someone to help them test a promo abuse method for a popular meal delivery service. Apparently their test was successful… Because we also found a later post from that same user advertising this promo abuse Fraud-as-a-Service to other forum members. The second screenshot below shows the landing page they had set up for their service. What can you do to prevent this kind of testing? Multi-accounting and ban evasion are safety nets that allow fraudsters to keep testing and iterating their fraud schemes without fear of being blocked permanently. If you can prevent these two methods, testing becomes harder. A strong device ID that makes it hard for fraudsters to run tests across multiple accounts could go a long way toward stopping fraud schemes before they ever start wreaking havoc on your platform. If they don’t have a repeatable way to test different ideas, they might never get to the abuse stage at all.

  • Collaborating with your competitors to stop fraudsters is a smart move. Here’s an example: Two big food delivery platforms decided to share fraud signals so they could identify bad delivery drivers operating on both of their platforms. After all, delivery drivers evading bans can cause big problems. These drivers meet customers in person or show up at their home. What if something really bad happens? The damage might not be limited to one platform. It could be bad for the whole category. Customers might re-evaluate whether they feel safe ordering food online. So these 2 companies decided they should work together to stop ban evasion. Are you missing out on opportunities to collaborate with your competitors and cut down on fraud?

  • The PIN community was launched in May 2024 ?? It all started with an exclusive fraud workshop in San Francisco. Such an amazing experience! → Attendees from companies like iFood, Delivery Hero, Rappi, Swiggy, FREENOW → Amazing discussions about fraud use cases → In-depth case study presentations → Lots of 1:1 networking between industry experts It was a big hit. You can hear what attendees had to say in the video below. And guess what? We’re doing it again in a couple weeks ?? November 11th, 2024 in London, UK. Can’t wait to be together again!
