The IWH is on the road! On Monday we stopped in Eastman, GA to visit city manager and Georgia Southern alum Dr. Spencer Barron at the City of Eastman to talk about advances in water infrastructure technology, mapping, and a comprehensive strategy to provide residents with safe drinking water. Dr. Barron showcased the expertise of his city employees as they discussed how they transformed city management by mapping resources around Eastman, improving response time, transparency, and accountability. A tour of the wastewater treatment plant illustrated how technological advances made monitoring, assessment, and troubleshooting much easier. We were joined by Katie O'Connor Partnership for Inclusive Innovation, which is supporting a new grant to take the lessons learned in Eastman and apply them to Marion, Alabama. Marion is a small town that has big plans to upgrade the drinking water system and integrate a training program to bring workers into the facility. We met with the team from Marion on Tuesday. #CleanWater #SafeWater #WaterQuality #PublicHealth #partnershipforsafewater #InstituteForWaterandHealth #GeorgiaSouthern #InstituteForWaterAndHealth #georgiasouthernuniversity #safewatertogether Georgia Southern University
