He came out twice and I felt confident in his ability enough so that I didn't bother getting other bids. Normally I do. There were a couple of areas that needed special attention and they handled it all professionally and courteously. Thanksgiving is almost here—the holiday where we traditionally feast, express our gratitude, and enjoy each other’s company. ??????? Do you wonder what the first Thanksgiving was like? The story we usually hear about the first Thanksgiving in 1621 is that it was a joyous harvest feast between colonists and the Wampanoag people in Plymouth, Massachusetts. But the story told by indigenous people is a little different! When the colonists, or Pilgrims, came to North America they built settlements built over the Wampanoag villages that had been wiped out from the introduction of European illnesses. Initially the Wampanoag people weren't invited to the feast. Historians believe they heard the colonists shooting their guns in celebration of the bountiful harvest, and worrying that their colonist neighbors were under attack, they came to assist them and then got a last-minute invite. From what we know, the days-long feast consisted of turkey, venison, seafood, and all of the vegetables that they had planted and harvested that year—onions, carrots, beans, spinach, lettuce, and other greens—a lot of which we still serve at Thanksgiving dinners to this day. Here’s a private road paving project that Pimentel Paving did that came out beautifully! This project involved a lengthy permission process that required approval by many residential property owners along the road, who we coordinated with to get the road repaved. The preexisting asphalt was in such bad condition that we had to demolish the surface and remove it by pulverizing it and hauling it away to be recycled. We prepared the base surface and repaved the road with fresh asphalt. Not every pavement setting calls for asphalt, and some people prefer the look of an asphalt alternative. Chip seal is a high-quality alternative to asphalt that offers an exceptional surface with a natural, earthy appeal. Chip Seal is a pavement surface treatment that combines one or more layers of asphalt with one or more layers of fine aggregate. This kind of surface is known by a variety of other names that are used in different parts of the country. In the eastern U.S. it’s usually called tar-seal, tarseal, tar and chip. Here in California we call it chip seal, chipseal, or chip and seal. In the United States, chip seals are typically used on rural roads carrying lower traffic volumes. Beware of scams by gypsy paving companies ??????? Before you choose a paving contractor, be sure to verify their license with the California State Contractors License Board before engaging them. There are red flags, good questions to ask when you research an asphalt contractor’s license: ?? Why is there more than one license? Companies that get in trouble with one license will often create a new one to try to dodge their previous reputation. ?? Why is the license “expired” or “revoked?” A contractor license can be revoked for many reasons—failure to pay a small claims judgment, failure to comply with requirements for bonds and insurance, criminal conviction or other offenses like taking advantage of consumers. A revoked license turns into an expired license after 3 years. ?? Why are there multiple company names and licenses for the same person? This might indicate an attempt to dodge a previous poor reputation, too.
