The 12th Cartoonist Studio Prize Announced! Each year the Cartoonist Studio Prize will be awarded to work that exemplifies excellence in cartooning. The creators of two exceptional comics for this year will be awarded $1,000 each. The winners will be selected by?The Beat?and The Schulz Library staff at The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS). The two award categories for the Cartoonist Studio Prize are?Long-form Comic of the Year?and?Short-form Comic of the Year.?Both award categories are now open for print?and?web submissions, with eligibility determined by the length of the work. The recording is now available from the Harvard Medical School comics and medicine panel discussion! It's an hour and half of me, A. David Lewis, Joel Christian Gill, and moderator Matthew Noe talking all kinds of stuff about graphic medicine: authenticity, definitions and boundaries, fighting the battles, and when it's OK to tell jokes. I've known all three of these guys for years, so to me it felt like a fun chat with really smart friends. I'm so grateful that I got to be part of this.
