Talent Management Starts in the Hiring Process Finding great talent through recruiting is a piece of the puzzle, but organizations and managers often have no plan to get the most out of new hires once they start. Traditional onboarding is rooted in administrative logistics of important things like building access, HR paperwork, IT provisioning, policy orientation, etc. But it often takes ~6 months for new talent to perform at a "meets expectations" level (often measured as time to competency or proficiency). Shortening that cycle has massive ROI not just for employers but also for the talent they hire as this accelerates the rate of learning and oxygenates the employee experience. My best advice is to map out an end-to-end process BEFORE you write a job description or sort through resumes. Recruiters and hiring managers are often hasty in just "seeing who's out there" and then bumbling along each step of the process with mission success declared upon an accepted employment offer.
