Our colleague Yue LU attended the AI Founder Investor Meetup in San Francisco, hosted by HashMatrix. It was a rewarding experience!
AI Founder Investor Meetup in SF ✨ It was pleasure to attend the AI Founder Investor Meetup @ SF hosted by HashMatrix in January. I’ve been to plenty of founder meetups and pitch sessions, but this one was different—each early-stage founder had just one minute to pitch their product to over 200 investors. For someone used to working within tight time constraints, this format was a dream. 🌐In just one hour, we heard 50 pitches covering biotech, agriculture, fintech, game, media, art, e-commerce, social platforms, all leveraging the power of AI. Many founders were impressively young. The hosts humorously described it as “speed dating for startups”, and it truly delivered. 🙌Sharing a group photo (can you find me? 🤔) and a picture with the incredible host Krypton M.. The venue, Edge & Node House of Web3 in the Presidio, was absolutely stunning. Big thanks to the organizers—HashMatrix, @AI+, The GenAI Collective, and Quantum Society—for hosting such a memorable evening. 🌃Side note: San Francisco feels much cleaner and safer this year, a relief for those attending evening events. Here’s to many more inspiring moments in 2025! 🎉 #AI #Innovation #Startups #Networking #InvestorMeetup #SanFrancisco#2025

🎮 Our partner Chao Yu was recently quoted in GamesBeat’s article “NetEase raises fears it is unloading its overseas game properties, hurting U.S.”, providing insights into the strategic shifts of China game companies. He noted that while investments in overseas development studios may decrease, these companies remain committed to global expansion. This shift is driven by increased confidence in domestic development capabilities—evidenced by the success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong, Marvel Rivals, and Delta Force—and the significantly lower development costs in China compared to the U.S. and other Western markets. Companies such as Tencent and NetEase are expected to develop more games domestically while focusing on publishing them globally. As the industry adapts, the focus will be on balancing global ambitions with strategic resource allocation and operational efficiency. 🌐 Please find the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gHUFfHvU #VideoGame #GameDevelopment #NetEase #GamePublishing #GameIndustry

Happy Spring Festival! Check out our colleague Yue LU at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business and University of California, Berkeley - School of Law Spring Festival event!
Berkeley Haas and Berkeley Law Spring Festival Event 🎉I was delighted to attend the Spring Festival Gathering co-hosted by University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business and University of California, Berkeley - School of Law Law to celebrate this special occasion. 🏮This marks my fourth Spring Festival in the United States. Most of the time, I find myself buried in documents, which can make life feel a bit monotonous. For those of us living abroad, Spring Festival is more than just a moment of nostalgia for home—it’s an opportunity to reconnect with the rich traditions and cultural heritage of China. From making dumplings and practicing calligraphy to sharing hot pot, these simple activities remind us of where we come from. 🤝But the question remains: where do we go from here? During this holiday, engaging with people from diverse industries (yes, Haas folks do have way more diverse backgrounds than us law school folks—no surprises there! 😊) offered not just a refreshing break from routine, but also some meaningful insights. In an ever-changing world, staying connected and embracing an open mind allow us to see beyond boundaries, guiding us toward where we truly belong. 🚀More importantly, Chinese New Year symbolizes new beginnings and hope for the year ahead. It’s a time when we gently set aside the past, embracing the promise of renewal. 🧧 A special thank you to Yifu Liu from Berkeley Haas for providing the venue JJ Lake Business Center in Mountain View, and to YUCHEN ZHAI from Berkeley Law for the kind invitation. #SpringFestival #BerkeleyHaas #BerkeleyLaw #CulturalExchange #Community

😊TechCon SoCal 🌍 A great two days on campus at San Diego State University hearing about AI and:💰 Financing, 🏥 Heathcare, 🔒 Cybersecurity, 💼 Venture Capital, 🔬 Science, 🚗 Autonomous Vehicles. And for a tech conference in 2025 of course AI is the focus…but it wasn’t only about AI. A few takeaways: 📉 Can you add AI to your pitch deck and then successfully raise funds? One speaker pointed out that the old guys remember the dot com days in late 1990s and how that worked out. Short answer: no. 🌟 Tech Hubs exist outside of Silicon Valley. Thanks to Ashley Keating of CincyTech, Jason Scharf of Austin Next, Neal Bloom🎩 of Interlock Capital and Scott Fox 🦊 of StartupCouncil.org for highlighting the virtues of Cincinnati (close to my undergraduate school OSU, go Bucks! 🏈), Austin, San Diego and Detroit (my hometown, go Lions! 🐯). 🎓 Universities are (of course) critical to a tech ecosystem. Thanks to Jeff Draa, Hala Madanat of host San Diego State University and Paul Roben of UC San Diego for sharing all that our great universities have done to make San Diego a tech hub. 🎉 Congratulations to DeepWater Exploration Inc. for winning the pitch contest and to the seven other amazing finalists for telling us about their companies: Biocanic, FlyX Technologies, Site Bionics, InflammaSense, GolTech, Loopholes and AIR Surgical, Inc. 🙌 Most of all thank you to Faisal Mushtaq and his team for organizing a great event that showcases San Diego, America’s finest city, as the tech hub that it is. #TechConference #AI #SanDiego #Innovation #TechConSoCal
