PIDC worked with long-time repeat client Enanta Pharmaceuticals to complete over 20,000 sqft of office renovations within the historic arsenal building. The 1st and 3rd floor spaces were transformed to create modern and inviting spaces with a mix of open office, private meeting rooms, spacious café spaces and collaboration areas. The lobby spaces display water features and moss walls to create inviting and welcoming areas. The 3rd floor features original exposed wood trusses and dramatic lighting which was created with the intent to support flexibility and the needs of different activities and events. #collaboration #workspace #renovations #constructionproject #conferenceroom #projectdelivery #officedesign #lighting #pidc

For the final day in our Co-Op series we have Allen Rand, Jim Opie, and Duong Vo sharing?? Allen: I spent all (3) of my Co-Ops with PIDC, and each one was a great learning experience for me. Gaining real-life experience and seeing how things work both on jobsites & in the office gave me a better understanding of what they were teaching me at Wentworth. A major benefit of my co-ops with PIDC was displayed during our final project as a senior. You are tasked with creating a plan on how you would run a real-life job, and the experience I gained during my co-ops is what I used to structure that plan. Jim: The co-op program at PIDC assigns each apprentice to a project manager to facilitate structure, but also supports working with several other individuals at the company and being a part of multiple projects for greater exposure throughout the experience.? During my co-op semester I was able to implement project management tools and procedures, gain a better understanding of job site safety and technical construction components, and begin to develop communication skills with both clients and subcontractors.? As Construction Management program studies are primarily industry focused, with the co-op experience at PIDC it became easy to see the where each puzzle piece of my education fit into the real world application. Duong: I began my journey at PIDC in 2019 as an Assistant Project Manager/Superintendent through a Co-Op program offered by WIT. This journey continued in 2021 when I became a full-time employee at PIDC. During the Co-Op program, I had the opportunity to work in the construction industry, leveraging my mechanical engineering background. I applied my knowledge of mechanical theory to real-world construction projects while expanding my understanding of construction practices, including HVAC systems, architectural designs, civil engineering, and more. Overall, combining practical work experience with academic knowledge has been incredibly beneficial and is a valuable experience for any student participating in a Co-Op program or a recent graduate entering the field. If you have had a similar experience within a program drop a comment! We would love to hear your points of view?? #nationalapprenticeshipweek #internship #constructioninternship #constructionindustry #apprenticeship

For day 2 of our Co-Op series we have Charlie Bucacci and Manny Panameno sharing?? Charlie: Doing both my internships at PIDC helped me relate my classroom experience to real life. It just so happened that I had finished my Surveying class when two months later while on co-op, I was asked to shoot elevations. This worked both ways as when I would come back from co-op and go back to the classroom, I would ask questions about what I saw and did and get a professors opinion on it. I believe it was also beneficial that I was able to stay on the same jobsite for both co-ops, maintaining my knowledge of the work being done, and staying in contact with PIDC employees asking how the job was progressing and what to expect on my return the next co-op. The opportunities that I was given during my co-ops let me apply my classroom experience to the real world and learn how the things we were learning in PowerPoints and textbooks were to be applied to help keep projects going and how to keep projects safe. Manny: My time as a co-op at PIDC was incredibly valuable and instrumental in my career development. While completing my degree in Construction Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology, I had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Project Manager at PIDC, contributing to projects such as 65 Grove Street, Explora, VOR, and MISPRO. My role involved a mix of fieldwork, assisting the superintendent, and office responsibilities, supporting the senior project manager. During this time, I gained hands-on experience in tasks like MEP coordination, drafting subcontracts, processing monthly pay requisitions, and overall project management. This blend of responsibilities gave me a comprehensive understanding of the construction process and allowed me to apply my academic knowledge to real-world challenges. These experiences built a strong foundation for my growth at PIDC, where I’ve progressed into my current role as a Project Manager. Having apprenticeship experience within the construction industry is an important part of training for developing craft professionals. November 18-24 is National Apprenticeship Week and is a great time to support the practice and promote programs. It’s sad to say that we do not currently have anyone within our program ??. However, we have 7 talented team members on our “squad” who have been willing enough to share how their experience was within our Co-Op program ??. We will be sharing these experiences over the next 3 days. Today, we start with Kolbe Heiple and Stefanie Beaudry. Kolbe: My Co-Op experience with PIDC was extremely beneficial. I had the opportunity to Co-Op both my Junior and Senior years while attending Wentworth Institute of Technology. Working with PIDC proved to be more than rewarding. I was provided with many opportunities and challenges with as much guidance necessary. The culture at PIDC was inviting and abled me to grow in construction management. The knowledge gained while on Co-op transitioned seamlessly into the classroom at Wentworth. This knowledge impacted my classroom learning experience exponentially. It became much easier to understand lessons, projects, and assignments. Furthermore, this allowed me to retain the information taught at Wentworth more than ever.? I was able to experience both sides working as a construction manager, allowing me to increase my skills in both management and supervision while studying CM at Wentworth. After completing both Co-Ops with PIDC, I was offered a full-time opportunity. Once I graduated from Wentworth in August 2023, I started full-time with PIDC! Having worked with PIDC for over a year, everything learned during Co-Op was crucial to where I am today. PIDC has been a great company, everyone is always looking to help one another grow and succeed. I am excited about the future here and look forward to advancing my CM knowledge with the company! Stephanie: When I was an intern at PIDC Construction, I was attending WPI studying Architectural Engineering. PIDC helped me to use what I learned at school and put it into practice. The topics were ones I had learned in my major, but I had never had a chance to solidify the information. My internship was a good way to ease into the work force from graduating college. The people were welcoming and assisted whenever I made mistakes or needed help.? I continue to learn new things at PIDC now that I work here full time. I am excited to gain even more knowledge concerning construction as my time here continues. If you have had a similar experience within a program drop a comment! We would love to hear your points of view?? #nationalapprenticeshipweek #internship #apprenticeship #constructioninternship #constructionindustry

We’re happy to announce we reached substantial completion last month on our 3rd build out with Mispro! The completion of the contract vivarium in the heart of Kendall Square in Cambridge marks Mispro’s 10th Boston location. PIDC alongside design team Chan Mock Architects and BR+A Consulting Engineers completed the 6,250 build out within the Binney space and despite being in the lower level, the soaring deck height allowed for rooms with higher ceilings and a dramatic open Break Area with kitchenette and breakout meeting rooms. Great work teams! Always great to see a project come together! #constructionproject #contractvivarium #substantialcompletion #cambridge #teamwork

PIDC had the pleasure of working with the Revival / Mothership team on a complete renovation of their Revival Café and Mothership Restaurant at 125 Cambridgepark Drive. The restaurants are separated by an operable Nanawall and feature an overhead Renlita door to enter from the lobby of the building. The phased project started with the completion of the seating, serving, and bar areas of the restaurants as well as one section of the back of house kitchen. The remainder of the 6,000 square foot kitchen, which serves several Revival Cafes throughout the area, is now being renovated with a 5 phase schedule to facilitate full operation during construction. #construction #constructionmanagement #restaurant #cambridge
