Set to open in Spring 2025, VIVA Padel & Pickleball Club is bringing a state-of-the-art 90,000-square-foot facility to the City of Brotherly Love. Located at 1300 N 8th Street, the club will feature four professional-grade padel courts and four pickleball courts, offering leagues, tournaments, and a dynamic social scene. Founder Mehdi Rhazali, a seasoned racquet sports professional and Drexel University’s Head Men’s Tennis Coach, envisions VIVA as a premier hub for racquet sports—a place where players of all levels can connect, compete, and enjoy the game. Beyond the courts, the club will feature a revamped 1968 Airstream Overlander 28 as its pro shop, modern amenities, and a welcoming viewing area with stunning skyline views. The ratio may be wrong (48 pickle, only 2 padel!) but this new club in Arizona is still worthy of a mention. The possibility of 200 people on court, under one roof, at the same time playing both of the world's fastest growing sports is slightly epic. And perhaps more than a little noisy (the pickleball if any planners are reading!). Question. why are padel and pickleball such easy bedfellows? The games and courts are very different, not even sure there's an established player demographic link. Pickleball and badminton we could understand but padel ??. What makes a padel club great? It's something I get asked about a lot (and probably think about even more). For instance, I just had two bright young entrepreneurs looking to open a #padel club in Texas reach out to me with dozens of smart -- and very specific -- questions about how they should approach building their club. We had a great conversation, and afterwards I realized that my most useful and powerful advice often comes in the form of suggestions on what NOT to do and all-too-common mistakes to avoid. So, I decided to put a few of these together for our final article of the week (https://lnkd.in/emC5PaAc)... I'm sure all of the much more qualified U.S. padel club experts out there (including Patricio Misitrano, Ruben Gonzalez Chapa, Tito Moreno, Julian Wortelboer, Cesar Caceres, Steve Long, Chris Klein, and Bradley Hoffman, LEED AP just to name a few) have their own opinions -- which I do hope they'll share here.
