2024 has been a year of growth, change, and building the plane as we fly it towards altitudes never reached before in experiential marketing. ?? In the process we grew our team 3-fold. ?? This year took our full team’s effort to pull off. After all, it’s not just about the size of the agency, but the effort of our incredible people. From taxi, takeoff to landing — it’s been a smooth ride thanks to the hard work and hustle, unbounded creativity and tireless collaboration of every single member of team Verb. So as we unplug as a team this week, we want to show GRATITUDE. ?? We’re grateful that every day we get to work with people that have the most dope vibes and drive, working together to bring experiences to connect brands with their audiences in new ways. With this team the sky truly is the limit.

Psst… did you hear? She Runs It confirmed what we knew all along: our co-founder Yadira Harrison is Changing the Game, and a 2024 Brainwave Honoree ?????? They asked where she received her courage to be disruptive. Here’s what Yadira said: ???? From her mother, who immigrated from Panama to blaze her own trail and is always going against the grain. ???? And from all of the women she surrounds herself with, who inspire her constantly to get up, go out there, and disrupt. Here’s to changing the game and winning it, too! ?? Shout out to Yadira who inspires us all to — in her words — “do what we gotta do” on the daily! ??

This just in from London ????: Verb WINS #TheDrumAwards Agency Business: Entrepreneurs AND the President’s Award ???????? Since starting Verb in 2018, our entrepreneurial co-founders Shannon Jones and Yadira Harrison have had a shared vision: build an experiential agency creating work that doesn’t just fit culture — it moves culture. We built an agency that we wanted to see in the world. And we want to see more as the industry shifts forward! So here’s 3 tips for leaders looking to do the same: ???? Be selective about who you partner with. We create some of the most imaginative, multi-faceted experiences in the industry — so we work with brands that want to do the same. ???? Drop ideas about hierarchy at the door. Our founders lead with empathy that trickles down to every facet of our agency. They encourage team members at every level to think outside the box and bring fresh ideas to the conversation. ???? Sweat the details. Every Verb experience is planned from the most minute point to the “5,000-foot view.” When we orchestrate an activation, we consider everything: from how audiences will arrive, to how they will interact with the world we’ve built, to what they will share with others after they leave. Big thanks to the team at The Drum and Meet The People’s Tim Ringel for the special surprise of his President’s Award. Drop a comment to join us in congratulating our co-founders on this well-deserved win! ?? And P.S. our DMs are now open if you want to learn more ??

When the tea is hot, it’s HOT. ?? Our co-founders Shannon Jones and Yadira Harrison sat down with Michelle Lawrence for an episode of The Clios’ #BlackTea ?? spilling their POVs on business, experiential marketing, and what the best clients have in common... Here’s a sip: ? Relationships are a superpower. ?? When Shannon and Yadira founded Verb, they gave themselves 100 days to get it off the ground. They signed 3 clients in the first week. How? By being real and connecting with marketers and helping them achieve their goals. Being relationship-first allows Verb to bypass the “prove it” stage and get down to BUSINESS. ? Don’t fear the comments section. ?? The best part of launching an activation is seeing how the public reacts! When someone sends you a good meme, you feel seen and understood. That’s the ultimate goal of a Verb experience, too – to make the brand’s community feel seen and a part of the work so they can’t wait to talk about it! ? It’s not about logos, it’s about people. ?? We talk a lot about being visionary partners for visionary leaders, but really, we want to work with good people where there’s a sense of respect and trust. People who aren’t afraid to try something new that doesn’t have 100 case studies and who pass our vibe check. Logos alone aren’t doing all that. Check out the full piece conversation here if you love a good industry hot take: https://bit.ly/3AgC5Yb Bonus points if you drop a meme that made you feel seen in the comments ??

If you’re here, you know. Verb is built different. ???? Our team doesn’t look like everyone else. We’re fully remote, spanning from coast to coast with over 4 generations of talent. Verb hires by experience, not degrees - resulting in a team that looks “like a Benetton ad.” Our many diverse perspectives, experiences, backgrounds and qualifications give us the ability to ideate and execute experiences that make even the most “niche” audience feel seen, heard and valued. But you don’t just have to take our word for it. Take a peek into our DMs for the full buzz on what makes Verb the place to be - directly from our people ?? (cc: Sermad B. Lou Becker Kristin Campbell-Taylor John Piccirillo Rick Pomer Isaac Norbe Danielle Young Fabienne R.) ?? “It's a WE mentality.” ?? “Can be unapologetically myself.” ?? “Knowing which projects/clients to say yes to is a flex beyond flexes and it shows.” ?? “Radical candor, transparency and honesty.” ?? “Feel unmeasurably supported always.” ?? “Verb actually pushes the boundaries of what is possible and then achieves it.” ??“Our founders are like the Thanos of collecting creatives.” ?? 2 minutes with our favorite duo? Yes please! ???? Muse by The Clios caught up with our founders Shannon Jones and Yadira Harrison. Here’s our Q+A top 3: Q: Your main strength as a creative person? ?? Shannon: Ingenuity.? ?? Yadira: Being honest about the work, especially your own work, is the highest level of love and respect. That’s how you bring out the best in yourself and others. But it can’t be a critique without any feedback. You need the WHY—from a place of L-O-V-E. Q: How did you first realize you were creative? A book, movie, TV show or podcast you recently found inspiring. ?? Shannon:? I knew I was a creative genius around 10 years old when I used my Barbie Trace & Color book to create my own book called “The Black, Bold & Beautiful.”Phil Jackson’s book Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success ?? Yadira: I used to enlist my friends to recreate movies and videos like the talent show scene from Spike Lee’s School Daze and Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814. It was probably during one of those self-inflicted 6 a.m. calls that I realized I’d always be doing something with art. Q: How are you paying it forward with the next generation of creatives? ?? Shannon: Participating as an advisor and serving as a juror for the Collegiate Effies. I’m always looking for ways to connect, whether it’s making time for speaking engagements or informal coffee chats. And of course, we hire young pros for our team and support their creative endeavors. ?? Yadira: Mentoring and hiring them. Period. ??? Thanks Shahnaz Mahmud for the convo! What a day at CURATED by Live Nation! Shannon Jones and Yadira Harrison took the stage to share some of the insights driving our work with brands and communities. Here are a few key takeaways: ?? Cultural Currency Matters: Building authentic connections with multicultural audiences isn't just about showing up, it's about showing up right. ?? Community is Power: The most successful activations make people feel seen, valued, and part of something bigger. It’s all about creating shared experiences that resonate. ?? Storytelling Drives Everything: Every interaction is an opportunity to tell a brand’s story in a meaningful way — and that’s how you build lasting connections. Thank you to Shavonne L. Dargan Soükee Van Orden, and Tashia Roberts. Let’s keep pushing the culture forward!

We’re over the “Instagrammable Wall” and you should be too. ???? Creating great experiences for brands and consumers means engaging, community-driven content that is part of the entire marketing process (not. a. standalone.) Our co-founder Shannon Jones joined Amy Tunick and Judy Lee at ADWEEK House earlier this month to discuss what it takes to produce meaningful, non-boring experiences. Here are some questions you should be asking if you want to avoid a snoozefest: ? Start with your “why:” Who is this event FOR? (And no, “adults 18-49” is not a target demographic.) How does it fit into your overall goals? ? Take a beat: Would you want to share this experience with your own community? Would you personally talk about it publicly? Would you “share” it? If the answer to any of those questions is “no,” rethink what you’re doing! ? Give folks a backdrop to create: Where can your audience express themselves? How will they see themselves in your space? More than ever, people want to go to events to show who they are. Consumers are also content creators; help them share their stories and they will share yours. Catch a recap of our conversation on Adweek ?? https://bit.ly/40trHaz and let us know down below what the best event you attended was and why. ?? (You can be honest if you loved a flower wall. We won’t judge you… much.)
